Off topic- Police announce arrest in Peoria home break-ins

an interesting twist to this story is that certain people in positions of authority had said (off the official record and not reported in the paper) that these crimes were NOT random attacks but hinted that there were reasons (such as vengeance for prior legal issues, disgruntled relatives, drugs or gambling debts) that caused the attackers to target the homes they broke in to...
well - the police chief now has a little egg on his face and at least one of the victims is saying so

I am a little surpised at the stupidity of these crooks...
using the exact same MO over and over - causing the cops to kinda know what they were looking for and sooner or later someone was going to give a tip that they had seen or knew of people stashing or storing or fencing the loot... or talking about - as a tip did indeed put the cops onto their trail.
Anyway - the more people involved - and they had five in the gang- then the more someone with loose lips or a stupid act like trying to sell a ring or other item would alert authorities.
plus - if you steal used electronic stuff like flat screen TV's - even tho they are expensive - they are large, hard to stash, and hard to convert to cash -
and even if they can be converted - you had better not do it locally where the cops are watching and you're only going to get a nickle or a dime on the dollar of what they are worth - so even a whole carload of them is risking big time jail sentence for a few hundreds of dollars of loot that still has to be split 5-ways.
Lastly it sounds like the police readily found a large percentage of the stolen goods stashed in the homes & garages of the suspects - so hanging on to this stuff & being found in possession of it is obviously one of the strongest parts of the evidence that will convict them
