Should be Missouri State easy over Grambling
Wichita going on the road for the first time but should beat winless Tulsa
ISU should handle Manhattan, if they're not still celebrating their win at Northwestern
Valpo at Evansville should be interesting - relatively even matchup..
Valley has a chance to go 4-0

Much like Drexel, I don't think you know much about Manhattan.

      I will help you out:
RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College men's basketball team was chosen first in the 2013-14 MAAC preseason poll, selected by the league's 11 head coaches.

Illinois State is 3 point underdogs at home.

you might be surprised but I do know about Manhattan and have posted more about them here than everyone else put together...

but they have been far from impressive and world-beaters thus far...

-They were one of the only three teams in history to have lost a game to one of the Bahamian teams..
-They played one public exhibition against a team named Nyack - proving nothing
-they squeaked out an OT win against LaSalle (2-2 against a weak schedule)
-the beat Columbia (1-2 with only win over a bad UMES) by ONE point
-then they lost at home to George Washington (might be good but have only beat Radford, Maine, & Delaware St.)
...so I judge ISU should beat them - you should be happy not angry...

ouch - Northwestern is bouncing back from their embarrassing loss to ISU by absolutely annihilating UIC at UIC..

Currently Northwestern 39 - UIC 14 near halftime....

Missouri State is looking strong- they annihilate Grambling State 97-67, and they get a lot of contributions off their bench-

Final scores of MVC & other local games..

Wichita State 77 - Tulsa 54 - Van Vleet is good, why did we not go hard after this guy?

              Manhattan 79 - ISU 70 - ISU gets outrebounded 40-27, 59 fouls called & 79 FT's shot, 21 turnovers for both teams

Missouri State 97 - Grambling 67 - MSU hit 60% of their shots

Evansville 100 - Valparaiso 92 - a career night for Alec Peters 10-15 & 7-11 from the arc & 30 points! Why did we not recruit this kid?
Evansville's DJ Balentine 32 pts, Mockevicius 2 pts, zero reb (remember this guy?)

              Purdue beats EIU 83-55
              Northwestern 93 - UIC 58 and it wasn't even that close -

I have heard from a highly reliable source that Bradley did not offer Alec Peters, and there is no recruiting source I know of that mentions Bradley recruiting him.

And actually, Alec Peters had numerous D1 offers (over 20), and dozens more schools that recruited but did not offer.

                  Rivals lists these offers:

                  Boston College
                  Butler
                  Drake
                  Wisconsin-Green Bay
                  Illinois State
                  IPFW
                  Loyola Chicago
                  Wis. Milwaukee
                  Rice

                  Valparaiso
                  Western Michigan

Another usually reliable source that gets it's info from AAU coaches (Peoria Irish) lists several additional offers:

                  South Dakota State
                  IPFW
                  UIC

                  Utah
                  Washington State

His final three were Saint Louis, Boston College, and Valpo-

I believe there were reasons and some were noted elsewhere even on this board - but BU did not pursue Peters at all

He is currently in the early part of his freshman season averaging 14.8 ppg...I know that's no guarantee it'll continue, but...

Even our best scorers (Hawkins 14.6 ppg as a frosh) in the past 30-35 years did not average that much as freshman..

True - but the odds are a bit better if you do recruit him than if you don't

BTW - one other kid who Bradley was after - Jared Brownridge - is also doing pretty well - he's averaging 20.3 ppg

I have heard differently, that he would have liked to have been recruited by Bradley. Maybe someone who knows the family can clarify this. Supposedly, one of the reasons he chose Valpo over other offers was proximity and opportunity to play right away.
