interesting that Ballentine didn't even get a sniff in the preseason - didn't even make Honorable Mention while players like Seth VanDeest (averaging 4ppg/4rpg this year and single digits last year) did ..
Balentine playted 2nd fiddle to Colt Ryan and is their leading returnee having hit 53 3-pointers - and over the final month and a half last year averaged double digits...

      D. J. Balentine also was not the MVC Player of the Week announced yesterday, despite scoring 29 points in Evansville's win last week. As noted, he has scored 29 points in all 3 Evansville games- all wins- as they are now 3-0 and among only 3 undefeated MVC teams left.
In fact, the weekly MVC Notebook release does not even mention Balentine's 29 point game last week and his 29 point per game average!

Instead, Khristian Smith of Indiana State was named POW, after 2 nice games of 28 points (in a loss to Belmont) & 15 points (in a win vs. ND), as Indiana State went 1-1 last week. He wasn't even Indiana State's high scorer in one of the games.

I am thinking that if Indiana State and Wichita are the only two MVC teams looking strong at this point - they'll get the disproportionate share of Valley pub

Again - I know it's early, but the only three MVC teams whose SOS is better than 110 have a combines record of 1-6 against D-I's - not looking good for MVC strength...
