  • Drake Beats Iowa/Missouri State beats InSU

Well the Drake game is nearly a blow out as the Bulldogs whallop poor Steve Alford and his Hawkeyes 75-59.

Missouri State beats Indiana State 80-60 in Springfield, MO.

    Evansville rolls over Lipscomb, 80-73

Drake winning - I thought it might happen. A blow-out? WOW! And we think we might win there?

Mo St flexing their muscle - I figured they would cover the 17 point line when I first saw the line (and to think - it shrank to 15 1/2 - what were people thinking?).

    Evansville winning as suspected.

Good win for Drake, yes, but Iowa is uncharacteristically bad this season. The Hawkeyes have played nobody and have lost all games they've played against teams from power conferences (Bama, Villanova, Arizona State, Va Tech) as well as UNI and has only beaten the Citadel, Toledo, UT Pan Am, Copin State and Iowa State.

Here is a funny picture from the Des Moines Register. It shows that the Drake students haven't lost their sense of humor after several losing seasons in a row:

In the game Saturday with Iowa at Drake, the picture below shows one of the signs in the student section addressed to Iowa coach Steve Alford--
Hey Steve, 1983 called...they want their haircut back

I just watched the replay of the Drake/Iowa game. Drake outrebounded Iowa almost 2 to 1. AJ Calvin is going to be a tough matchup for Bradley.

I watched a bunch of highlights of the game and Calvin looks like a totally different player than we saw last year. He is the athletic wing-type player who can score that you usually don't see on a Coach Tom Davis team. He will do well in the Valley, though I think Bradley has the athleticism to guard him.
But this should be the year Coach Davis puts up a winning record.
