SATURDAY
Drake travels out west to play St. Mary's....
The Gaels have come out of relative obscurity and are one of the best midmajor teams in the nation now...although their tiny on-campus arena looks like a high school gym from a bygone era. Seating capacity is just over 3000.
Here's a story on one of Drake's transfer players who got totally screwed by NCAA and denied a waiver to play.
Tennessee State plays at Wichita, but TSU is terrible. They are 0-3 and mostly been blown out - and they seem to have trouble scoring even 50 points a game.
This one should be a laugher for the Shockers.
Tulsa visits Missouri State - Tulsa was thought to be decent this year but they lost their opener to cross-town rival Oral Roberts.
Saint Louis visits SIU - this should be interesting, SIU's game notes even refer to themselves as "Transfer U" - not because of players transferring IN - but because of the number of players transferring OUT (Wood, Booker, Dillard, Teague, Setty, Daniels, etc..)
UNI visits George Mason - UNI was picked to finish 3rd in the MVC but they have yet to regiater a win over a D-I opponent.
In very un-UNI-like fashion, the Panthers are shooting only 34% from the arc this year.
Loyola is at Tulane - it's the first time they have played in Louisiana since 1984. Tulane is 2-0, Loyola is shooting 49% from 3-pt range.
...Back on the home front, Loyola is doing terribly with attendance, 2247 thus far and about 1000 for their exhib. Also noted - cross town rival UIC is likewise doing horribly with attendance - they drew barely over 1000 paid for their home game with Roosevelt - but half were no-shows. It was said to be their smallest crowd in their D-I existence (since 1981)
SUNDAY
Bradley plays at Illinois - available via streaming on the Big Ten network web site. The Big Ten TV Network has a women's basketball game at noon, then at 5PM shows Stony Brook at Indiana.
ISU plays at Northwestern - will be streamed via Big Ten Network online. ISU is 0-2 and remember - there were a few people who picked them higher than Bradley this season.
Indiana State plays at #21 Notre Dame - the Sycamores have never beaten Notre Dame
