This is the 4th and final game for Bradley in the Global Sports Invitational. It is Illinois' 3rd game. They will play Chicago State next Friday.
Bradley is 4-0 overall after wins at home against Jacksonville State, Alabama State, Central Michigan, and Chicago State. Illinois is 3-0 after home wins over Alabama State, Jacksonville State, and Valparaiso.
Illinois is coached by former Toledo coach John Groce, and one of his assistants is D Ford, brother of Bradley's head coach geno Ford.
They are lead in scoring so far by former Drake Bulldog Rayvonte Rice with 17.7 ppg. They start 3 guards- Rice, Joseph Bertrand (16.0 ppg and 8 rpg), and Tracy Abrams (11.3 ppg), and they are the Illini top 3 scorers. The other 2 starters are Nnanna Egwu, a former BU recruit, who averages 10.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg, and 3.3 blocks per game, and former Illinois State player Jon Ekey (5.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg).
They do not go very deep. Only freshmen Malcolm Hill (6'6" guard- 5ppg) and Jaylon Tate (6'3" guard- 4ppg, and a team-leading 3.6 apg) see significant time off the bench. Their only backup big men are freshmen Austin Colbert (9 mpg, 2 ppg) and Maverick Morgan (9.7 mpg, 1.3 ppg).
Illinois does not shoot the three point shot very well- only 26% through their first 3 games. Their guards all get a lot of points by dribble-drive moves, and short jumpers. They have out-rebounded their 3 opponents by an average of 46-36 and their guards are very aggressive rebounding the ball.
