I'm not sure the offer from ISU was still on the table when Alec committed to Valpo.

Some people starting to compare Alec Peters with Doug McDermott as a freshman- Same size, similar skills, and similar freshman numbers-

Actually, Peters scoring average is better than McDermott's as a freshman, and his three point percentage is much better-
            McDermott 14.9ppg. 7.2rpg. 1.2 apg. 52.5FG%. 40.5% Three. 74.6FT%
            Peters 15.3ppg. 5.2rpg. 2.1apg. 50FG%. 46.6% three. 77.3FT%

Peters dropped 30 for the 2nd time this season over the weekend. When he gets the ball in his hands good things tend to happen for Valpo. Great to see him doing well, the kid's work ethic has always been off the charts.

ISU was still very heavily involved w/ him all the way till the end, when he chose valpo. Valpo, ISU, Boston College were his final 3 that he chose from.

So it wasn't about going closest to home then...good for Alec...looks like he'll have a great career there.

I am not sure that is true. I don't know what his reasons were for choosing Valpo over ISU, but I have heard from a reliable source that he really would have liked to have gone to Bradley, but never got any interest. Our coaches felt he was not athletic enough.

I had a conversation with someone very close to the Peters situation a couple months before his commitment. ISU seemed like the clear favorite and I thought he was a lock.

He did want to stay close to home - and was leaning towards ISU - but they had a lot of turmoil and had about a zillion players up and leave least year..
he probably really didn't want to go all the way out east even tho the BC offer was legit - he chose Valpo and they are doing ok right now - 3rd best record in the Horizon -
They had a lot of playing time open immediately and from the looks of things - he's chosen wisely.

BTW - one more thing - Alex is named today as the Horizon's Freshman of the Week -
anyone who might want to follow him on twitter, he is fun to follow, pleasant, polite, family-oriented, and a nice change from the twitters of a lot of "college stars".
He recently tweeted that he has grown an inch since he left high school - so he's now 6-9!

                        Alex Peters

Another recruiting blunder. Peters would have been a great addition. We need shooters. Are we recruiting the right type of players?

Is there anyone from Washington or knows the Peters family that can come on here and clear up once and for all if we offered Alex? I don't think we did but would love to know the true scoop. If you don't want it on here PM me Thanks.

Don't look like it. Hope the newest recruits change that.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Bradley definitely did not offer Peters a scholarship. As Da Coach said, Alec didn't fit the athletic profile that Bradley was looking for.
