  • Josh Cunningham

Now Josh Cunningham is telling interviewers he will wait until spring to sign .. something I have thought was coming for at least a month...

this is very bad news because it means he's not really satisfied with any of the offers he has and he thinks (and is likely being advised) that he can do better by waiting..
he expects to have a good senior season and will get bigger, better new offers before the spring signing period.

Too bad, but the staff did everything they could to get him to BU. I hope they go hard after Jermaine Morgan now, and if spring rolls around and JC still has interest in BU, then the staff can look at their options. However, I think the JC ship has sailed....

This is why I would never want to be a college basketball recruiter. JC gave every indication to our staff he was very interested in BU- all the unofficial visits, his relationship with Chin, his mom being an alum, his best friend on the team, and then he extends his official visit an extra day. Now this news that he will sit and wait for a better offer in the Spring. He had to know this before he came down this past weekend. Geno and staff did all the right things and once again it looks like its all a waste of time (see Deshawn Delaney). Until the NCAA takes care of the "handlers" as Tom Izzo put it, this will continue to go on and kids will be told they should wait for the bigger schools to come calling. Of course, the NCAA is such a train wreck they can't get out of their own way so it will never happen.

Bradley will continue to recruit Cunningham, and we still have a good shot at him in the spring, if he doesn't sign now.

Tom Izzo is 100% correct. Too bad too many other influential head coaches and administrators don't speak out. They are probably worried about offending the handlers and hurting their chances of getting recruits.

I disagree entirely, the JC ship has sailed, a big school will need to sign someone and he'll get glassy eyed at playing for a 'contender.' We see it all the time...

Maybe we did a poor job of recruiting him. Maybe he wasn't impressed by our President. I have a lot more faith in Geno closing the deal on recruits than getting Joanne involved.

He sounds like a good player but here are other players. I want a player that makes commitments to his future that includes workout ethics, personality, school work, etc. Someone who waits around for the best train to come back may find the train has left the station. Good luck to him but there are other players

You are correct that it is the norm. However, in this case we have the Chin Coleman/Mac Irvin connection with Josh. That might make a difference. I am not saying it will result in us getting him, that is still probably a longshot. But at least we will be able to maintain contact better than with most recruits that we don't land early.

12th man - I think you are wrong - not many recruits who have Big 12 or Big 10 schools still choose Bradley so JC is likely just looking at his offers and hearing from his "advisors" and choosing the option he thinks serves him & his advisors best.
I have already seen/heard comments by people who kinda know a little of the inside facts - who are saying this was a decision he was probably "guided" into by someone else .

I just wish some of these recruits would realize what a great opportunity to be a star they have if they go a place like Bradley. I guess they all think they will be stars no matter where they go though.

It makes it ver difficult to consider Bradley a favorite now.
