I can't believe no one has posted about there articles in todays paper. Let me be the first.I guess there hasn't been any posts because some people disagree with what our bench accomplished last night. Listenening to Geno on his post game show and reading DR's story this a.m. sure sounds like different games than posted on here. I have to agree with Geno and DR.Thought our bench was a big reason we posted a W last night. Also agree with Tornado in that XT was much more effective than JP.
Also want to give a shout out to KW for a VERY good article in this mornings paper.

It's nice to see a lot of players get in the game. But we are not getting very much production out of the bench. That is what some people are seeing, and I can't understand why that is such a hard concept to understand.
    Check the box score-

59 of the 72 points were scored by 4 of the starters (82%)- Only 13 bench points (18% of the offense) and a total of only 8 bench rebounds (25% of the team's totals) are simply not good numbers, no matter how DR and KW spin things. Like you, I hope this gets better. We saw how this team can struggle when Walt has a bad game like he did last night. And teams are going to zero in on his defensively all year.
If you think we don't need more bench production, that's fine. But I think it's obvious we do. We struggled to beat a bad team on our home court last night.

We'll get better. I thought we were better than last Saturday. I have some concerns that Prosser might be cheek to cheek with Wells by the end of the season, and Swopshire made one of the worst passes I have ever seen last night. Zecevic was significantly better than he was last week, as was Grier. Once we start getting consistent performance, good or bad, we'll have a better feel on our ceiling.

Grier is now looking like a legitimate outside threat, and probably an alternative to Walt bearing all the scoring burden. It remains to be seen if he'll play as much against teams with good shooters, since he has defensive shortcomings, but he did look better last night.
Stefan reminds me of Jake Eastman. We were told he was a great shooter, but maybe he'll never live up to that. But we could use his energy off the bench.

Good grief...it's the first regular season game. People don't want to recognize the bench gave good quality minutes for some reason...like I said before, other than Bell the bench went 6-7 and played fairly well....10 guys played and at least 4 haven't ever played a minute in D-1...

          Nice job guys....

ooops....11 guys played....also we knew TP and WL were going to play well over 30 minutes each....Barnes and Grier were playing well or the minutes might have been spread out a little more

I agree - and I said so - our bench stepped up and played OK last night - not necessarily dominating the scoring & rebounding but creating turnovers, getting a few steals, and helping in other ways.
I am still concerned about our starters having to play so many minutes and it won't get easier when we actually start playing tougher teams but the contributions off the bench last night were a good start.

Good post T. If some people are just looking at points and rebounds than they may have a concern but I think most of us realize there's more to the game than that.I was very happy with what we got from the bench. We are going to be much deeper than anytime I can remember.
I also agree with someone's post that JP is going to be cheek to cheek with NW b4 very long.XT is IMO already more productive than JP and has a much better chance of giving us quality minutes b4 the conference season gets here.

Barnes was the recruit that I liked when we had signed our incoming talent. I really liked what I saw in the video I saw. I really like his game and with that height...he is really a matchup problem for others...

what I liked was we did not lose a bunch when Walt and TP were out. We are deeper...

                  Solid minutes from the bench....
