I am always optimistic - it got me thru the down years of the 70's, and even the bad Albeck years - hopefully we'll see the light soon!

Hill lost a squeaker by one point to Hutchinson
Tramique again is the star - 23 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals
those opponents he's facing - Hutchinson (12-1), Coffeyville (9-3), Navarro (7-5), Moberly Area (12-2), Kilgore (11-0 and ranked #3 Nationally),
Panola (was 7-2 again top opponents when they played), and McClennan (currently 15-0!) - are all top jucos...and top competition,
so Tramique is not doing this against cupcakes...Last edited by tornado; 12-15-2013, 11:03 AM.

Tramique shoots 43% from 3-pt range - way better than anyone we currently have - but.....
he only attempts about 1 3-pt shot per game. It reallly isn't how he gets his points because as primary ballhandler - he always has a strong defender on him and in his face...so he selects his shots carefully and doesn't take that many from deep.
We still need some shooters (***)...I made the point elsewhere about how Wisconsin has built a really good team out of individual pieces that are not all that impressive...
One of their philosophy is getting good outside shooters...
Two of their primary guys shoot 44% or better and seven of their top eight players (in playing time) shoot better than the national average in 3-pt shooting. Plus their only player who does not shoot 34.5% or better is Nigel Hayes, and he's never even attempted a single one - so the guys who can't shoot well don't, and all the rest will kill you.
So, again, you cannot recruit kids who are poor shooters or who average 8 ppg in high school or juco and expect them to move up to the D-I level and shine as scorers!
*** we have attempted 245 3-pt shots thus far, and all but 37 of them (85% of them) have been taken by players whose 3-pt shooting is 31% or worse!
