Next year..

Not writing this in the "blowoff" this year vane......but with the mention of Sam Maniscalco I was just looking ahead and wondered what others thought.

We will be loaded at guard next year and was wondering would it be good to r/s Sam? I'm not sure what position Fears will play....is he a 1,2 or 3. I don't see him as a 2 as he's not a great shooter but is he a passer? He seems to be more of a slasher get to the basket type guy.

Ruf will be at the point will Sam back him up.....I would think we would want a more proven commodity at the point whe DR is out.

I can see AT as a r/s especially if we can land a JUCO IMPACT big...easier said then done I realize.

I think the redshirt question will depend on how many rides are going out for next season......wether it is the one we all know about or if an another one comes available thru someone not coming back! If there is only one to give I doubt anyone will be asked to redshirt! We really need a Big for next season (with experience)to fill the gap right away left by ZA's departure! It would be a shame to not take advantage of the supreme guard power the Braves will have on the court next season!

We might need a back-up to Ruff (who might average 32+ minutes a game).

Fears is a 1/2, plays mostly as a 1, like a bigger A.I. but less selfish with the ball (and less other issues). Not saying he is as good as A.I. but the style is similar, not as much the mindset. We wont see Fears taking 40 shots a game like A.I. does.

Agreed with you Fetz - Fears is more than capable of being a 1. He started as a point guard on Ohio's NCAA Tourney team his freshman year...... now if Sam is good enough, play him as a freshman. But if not, no skin off his back if he were to redshirt.

Let me tell everyone something, im a manager on the team and im at practice everyday and fears is shooting the lights out of the ball at times, he will be an exciting player next year. I know its only practice but in his 3 point drills he went 30 for 32 the other day and he shows improvement everyday.

I am enjoying this years team a TON and look forward to next year and beyond! It is very exciting right now involving Bradley and their future.
