Closed scrimmages - one surprising outcome

many schools are starting their closed scrimmage games...
and although results are not supposed to be made public - here's one that is quite surprising...

Xavier hosted Ohio University in a closed scrimmage and Xavier LOST 84-75 per a "leaked box score" - one of Xavier's players got a "T"

Ex-Bradley recruit Rico Johnson was the star with 20 pts, 4 rebs, 2 stl for Ohio, including 15-16 FTs.
another ex-Bradley recruit Matt Stainbrook had 13 for Xavier but only 4 rebs.
one other ex-BU recruit James Farr was scoreless.

a few of their players (Vee Sanford, Kendall Pollard..) were Bradley recruits...

they played two 12 min halves final score 49-32
Well hyped freshman Kendall Pollard went 1-3 and just 3 pts, 2 reb playing 20 minutes
Sanford was 6-11 with 14 pts
Similarly highly touted newcomer Kyle Davis, Xzavier Taylor's teammate last year at Morgan Park, was 1-5 in 17 minutes, just 3 pts

UIC held their preseason Red-Blue scrimmage...
they did not use their home arena and held the scrimmage on campus at their Athletic Center instead of their UIC Pavilion (kinda as if we held ours at the Markin Center)

Iowa and Kansas State arranged a closed scrimmage in Council Bluffs, IA and unconfirmed reports claim Iowa won

this is interesting -- based on his play in the closed scrimmage and other practices...
Xavier awards a "PLAYER OF THE WEEK" jersey to one of the players and this week, Matt Stainbrook is wearing it..

The special jersey is a GOLD practice jersey - here's a pic of Stainbrook but not with the gold jersey on




He looks to have returned to slightly thinner form than when he was last playing

one comment I saw - Utah State had a closed scrimmage vs. BYU and seven of their players were in double figures including Sean Harris

Illinois State scrimmaged against Marquette today, and the only report so far is that Marquette's Jamil Wilson stood out.

And Creighton scrimmaged against Iowa State- reportedly Doug McDermott and Grant Gibbs stood out.
