  • Major upset in Class AA-Unranked St. Pats upsets St. Joe's

I just talked to an observer, but I am sorry I don't have a final score and cannot verify this information.

St. Joseph's High School is ranked #2 in the state behind Chicago Simeon. They are lead by 2 of the top 3 players in the state, Ohio State bound Evan Turner and Illinois bound Demetri McCamey. St. Patrick's came into this game 5-1, unranked and lead by Sam Maniscalco.

Sam was on fire from the start of the game my source says he had nearly 30 points, but I don't know the official stats.

St. Patrick's beat #2 St. Josephs. I'll try to get more details--

Here is a little more info.

The game was played at St. Joseph's, and St. Patrick's won 57-54.
Sam Maniscalco had 30 points and made a number of very tough jumpers.

Some great photos- there are a few that feature Sam Maniscalco (#20 in the green uniform)--

          Finally have the official report-

Sam Maniscalco scored 30 points in leading St. Patrick's over St. Joseph's. The upset broke St. Joe's 50 game home conference winning streak.

Let me remind some of the people who might be new, but there were people on this board and on the other board that claimed Sam Maniscalco was not as good as numerous other PGs in the state and in the area. This kid is very good, and is getting better every game.
St. Pats should get some votes in the next rankings.

Here is my favorite pic with Maniscalco guarding McCamey

Someone take away Sam's cel phone before Kelvin Sampson calls!

Here is a link to a video clip of the last minute of the game. I lifted the clip from a poster on the Illnois board.

The vidclip starts with the score tied 53-53 with 1:01 left. St. Joseph's makes 1 free throw to go up 54-53.
Sam Maniscalco then makes a gutsy move down the lane for a layup to put St. Pats up 55-54. Then St. Pat's plays great defense to prevent St. Joe's from scoring, and then makes a breakaway layup at the end for the final score of 57-54.

                    DC - great video.

Sam is a solid player and recruit.

Hope he likes Bradley's style (defense too) - Bradley is gonna like him.

One of the Illinois posters calls Maniscalco
"he is tough as a $2 steak"
                      LOL

One of the posters actually said that Sam was not a Div 1 recruit. Interesting considering Sam dropped 30 on their big time recruit. I guess if you are not going to Illinois you just cant be a Div 1 calibar recruit..........Sam will be a great player for us.

                            Sam

I actually like the comment on the Illinois board where they said sam "must have nuts of tungsten" better.

This is great for him, and I agree he's going to be an awesome addition to the Bradley team.

Compliments by Illini fans for kids that are not coming to Champaign-Urbana are very, very scarce indeed.
For several posters on the illiniboard to simultaneously praise Sam Maniscalco probably has point-guard starved Bruce Weber looking up cel phone numbers.
