I don't have a problem with a gargoyle for a mascot. I am among those who believe that something was needed and that is as good as anything. It appeared to be a popular choice among those surveyed.

I hope that the mascot image on the court and in merchandising features a littler fiercer look.

I agree with everything you've said here LTF. I don't understand the opposition, I wish it could be native american - It can't. So, if it can't be that, I think the Gargoyle is the most unique and representative Mascot we could have. I think BU needs to be clear in it's communication on this. A lot of people still don't understand that we're not changing our name, but I'm going to support the change as I think it's good for the university and will help branding. (Then again I like the idea of becoming the Bradley Brave, but that idea went over like a lead balloon).

Looks like to me that most of us who would have liked another mascot, if one was needed, have accepted the choice of the Gargoyle as there is only 1 post on this particular thread criticizing it.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I actually think most on this board, after the decision was evident are doing a great job supporting. I think at lot of people who are more casual supporters and just learned of the change are a little confused and still coming to terms with it/ This is based only on my conversations at the events this weekend.

well - here's one that is so ludicrous but it's hitting the newswires....

Seven women at UConn are filing complaints via TITLE IX...

one of the complaints involves the NEW UConn Husky logo
which she says is more fierce than the old "friendlier" one...and she feels it ties into sexual assaults and she feels threatened...

".. the student, Carolyn Luby, wrote that the new logo represented UConn’s failure to respond to the rape culture that existed on campus,
that a more frightening logo came while the “face of real life UConn athletics is certainly capable of frightening college women.”
Afterward, she was criticized online and targeted by Rush Limbaugh and subsequently received rape and death threats,
but Herbst and university police remained silent through it all, Luby said."
