  • ISU's Hoopfest

ISU held their equivalent of the preseason intro & Red-White...called Hoopfest, Tuesday night...
3-pt contest, dunking (head coach Dan Muller reportedly even threw one down!) skills, and a 10-min scrimmage for men & women

In the men's scrimmage White won 32-23, with Paris Lee leading the White with 8 pts on 3-4 and 2-3 from 3-pt.
Zach Lofton had 7 for White and John Jones & Bobby Hunter each had 6 for Red.
Don't worry if those names all sound unfamiliar - almost everyone's new and even the fans were seeing most of them for the first time.
The first exhibition is Nov. 3.

BTW -- Daishon Knight - who is said to be fully suspended from all activities was there and just as active as anyone else...so much for the suspension...
Even ISU fans were befuddled ...one fan said this on their board...
"a little surprised to see him involved in the festivities.
Im not sure what "suspended indefinitely" means."

..I don't think coach DM does either...

I don't think our coach can do this...

Maybe I missed it... where did it say he was "to be fully suspended from all activities".

Maybe you just linked the wrong article? Not sure...

let me get this straight - ISU suspensions are different from suspensions everywhere else - and they allow the suspended players to take part in any and every event and endeavor that all the rest of the non-suspended players take part in?
This obviously was the case back when Brandon Sampay was suspended then seen on the news the next day taking part in the preseason practices, and it's the case again with Knight.
Just what is a suspension if there is nothing the kid is suspended from?
Sounds prety toothless to me - like maybe Muller is just trying to look tough in the press but really, like a whole lot of head coaches we've been talking about, doesn't actually impose any discipline at all.

BTW - here's a CBSSports preview of ISU & Dan Muller and I will quote a couple of things including Muller's comments...

-"Muller doesn't have a single guy on the roster that played a minute under predecessor Tim Jankovich.
Go-to-guys Jackie Carmichael and Tyler Brown are gone.. only two scholarship players ..remained.. “I didn't envision this", Muller said..."

Hmmm...so Muller had nothing to do with this - and funny how they don't even mention the multiple players who were booted from the team for their criminal activity - at least three or four of whom (Allen, Allen, D. Clark & Hill) he personally ran off or were run off immediately prior to his hiring - opening some rides for him.....

-"Nothing has happened so far that has surprised us,” Muller said"
...wait a minute - just a couple lines earlier he said he was taken by surprise by all those players bolting elsewhere!

-"We're going to build our culture, our expectations on and off the court.."
...so immediately show that your "suspensions" aren't really suspensions at all?

-Muller said - "If you're on my team, you're my guy. I don't care if I recruited you or not, you're my guy.”...
OK - but then gotta wonder why nine different guys left with eligibility remaining, some of who played for Muller last season, but apparently they didn't feel like they were Muller's "guys"
... Hmmm... looks a little like housecleaning to me.

I was just asking a question on where it said "to be fully suspended from all activities". A question that has yet to be answered... yet you linked something to that quote... but there is nothing is the link that says that... soooooooo... where did it come from again? Simple question- should be a simple answer right???

It's been reported in many sources that Daishon Knight was suspended by Coach Muller-

Illinois State head coach Dan Muller has suspended JuCo transfer Daishon Knight indefinitely for a violation of team rules, according to a report.

So are you suggesting that maybe he never was suspended, or that the suspension has been lifted? Just what does "suspension" mean, if he is allowed to practice and take part in team activities and events as if nothing happened? He was charged with a felony!
Not much of a suspension, since there aren't any games being played.
How many games do you think he will miss as a result of this suspension?
You know what my guess is....zero.

Why such a long answer (without an actual answer) to such a simple question? I just want to know where it said "to be fully suspended from all activities".

Someone has to call out posters for INACCURATE information...

And I'd be willing to make a friendly wager with you that he misses at least 1 game... You said your guess is 0. What would you like to wager?

No. It is more appropriate to call out people trolling, and parsing words and making issues with the wording of another poster's statements, when the intent and meaning was quite clear.
BTW, You managed to avoid my question, but that's OK, it was more of a rhetorical question, that I did not expect an answer to anyway.

nobody that has ever been suspended at Bradley was filmed shortly after taking full part in team activities - especially regular, public team events, games, exhibitions, etc..
but it has happened at ISU - I'm just pointing that out
                  - instead, ISU fans want to try to obscure things by arguing terminology issues as to the difference between a suspension or a full suspension.

Evansville had their HOOPFEST last night..

Evansville scrimmaged Purple vs. White and Purple won 29-9!!!
Center Ryan Sawvell scored 11 including a pair of treys...

don't try to go to the Evansville message board though - because they must not have paid their bills and you'll see an "Account Suspended" page..

Marty Simmons' son Blake Simmons lit it up from outside..

Some people have picked Evansville as high as 4th place in their preseason picks.
But if they have to rely on Ryan Sawvell to be their best scorer or perimeter threat, they will not be in the top half of the league.

                            Weird...
Drake University basketball hosted its first Ballin' In The Mall event Sunday afternoon as the men's and women's team took to a portable court inside Jordan Creek Town Center.

Might be wierd but probably more people in the mall than at the new gym.
What part of illegal don't you understand?
