  • RC Tickets

Just got back from the RC . If your thinking about buying tickets to any of the 3 games up there, you better be making the trip very soon. As a retired official, I like to sit across from the benches so I can see the expressions on the coaches faces after calls go against them. ALL tickets across the floor were gone. Had to buy in one of the sections on the curve by the BU bench.Does that mean that fallout is over?? I think people are very excited to see all the new talent Geno has brought in and this is just a good example of the excitement. Looks to me like these 3 games will be sell-outs.

I know you are being snarky with your fallout question, but I will say that I do feel like this may be the year where we finally can say we are not waiting for something to happen down the road. The future is now. I think people sense that. There certainly was a down time, and whether that was caused by the previous coach or by the the firing of the previous coach is a debate that will never get resolved. Geno & the Braves overachieved last year, hopefully they do the same again and get us a top 3 finish. 4th or 5th would be an average finish. Bottom half of the league is unacceptable, in my opinion.

The seats are not taken as I undestand it. They are just reserved for the lower bowl people to claim if they want. If they dont claim then they go on sale to the public. They get first choice. So the rest of us peons are shuffled off to the corners. That's a surefire way of bringing positive promotion for season tickets..... The person who dreamed up this scam should run for Congress. They would fit right in with the rest of the brain trusts

I suspected something unusual like this. I checked on Ticketmaster, and indeed, even the exhibition game against Upper Iowa shows the best available tickets are in the end zone! Not even single tickets were available anywhere on the side-court sections. I'd like to believe it is because in the 1 day that individual game tickets have been on sale that 3000+ tickets were sold and all the tickets between the baselines are taken, but that is simply not feasible. I do believe there will be higher interest this year, and I hope it translates into better attendance numbers, but as I have said before, IMO it will take a better home schedule to accomplish that.

I really hope your wrong. If you are indeed right and the middle sections go on sale later because the high rollers didn't buy them up i'll be p--sed.I don't get season tickets anymore because I go south in Dec.so if they open those up later they shouldn't sell them to us peons, as you call us , until they've given the high rollers a chance to buy them. With your scenario ,I buy mine in the enzone on the second day and someone else can possibly buy the between the baselines at some point later when they realize they're not going to sell them . Correct me if i'm wrong. I don't think much of this plan.

I dont think much of this plan either. I dont know why they did not keep it simple. First come first serve. Another season ticket holder in my section is calling Dave Reynolds to ask about this. He is pretty upset also too the point he is thinking about not going at all. That really promotes ticket sales. Maybe the powers to be at Bradley can go out to Washington,D.C. and help balance the budget. They have the same common sense..

well - the main reason is because many of the season ticket packages also include seats in the lower bowl for the RC games,
in fact - all of Sections 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, and 24 - plus all the courtside premium seating - every Carver Arena lower bowl seat between the baselines - all of them have gone up in price
and also include tickets for all the RC games - so that's at least 1200-1500 season tix that also get RC seating....
and since they are not done with their push to sell more season tickets and because quite a few of the lower bowl season ticket holders
did automatically get or request a package that included the RC games - that means they have to set aside enough seats
to satisfy their possible requirements - so for now - only the bad seats and end zones are available for sales.

I have no problem with that plan at all but they should have set a date for those holders to pick up there tickets or say they didn't want them than let us peons buy first come first serve. Do you see what I mean? I bought mine the 2nd day they were available . Now someone could possibly buy any available seats between the baselines if they are not all purchased in a couple weeks. That would p--s me off.

sure - but complaints from certain elements of the fan base in the past two years have forced this action -
as you recall - there were bunch of fans who felt that as season ticket holders, they were ticked about having to pony up for extra games that were regular season games but not on the season ticket package - some were determined not to attend games at the RC.
Oddly - now this year - some of those same fans have the RC games included in their season ticket packages - and some are still not satisfied.

                    one more thing -
I have been posting for a month that there is definitely confusion among fans on this season ticket thing - which plans may or may not already have the Ren-Col tickets included and paid for -- and I think this is proof there still is confusion.

I have been bumping into people who are long time season ticket holders but who simply did not know if they needed to go get additional tickets like the past couple years for the games at Ren-Col - but also didn't want to unnecessarily buy more if they were already included and they'd be getting them..

Now - here's evidence that indeed confusion does reign because buyers of Ren-Col tickets seem stunned that all the best seats are set aside and not available.
I think we haven't heard the end of all this...remember - a huge hunk of the BU season ticket base are either older "gray-hairs" or corporate people who have someone on their staff doing the season ticket stuff and they don't do it personally.
In those cases - you will have people who do not know what it is they have already paid for and you also have a big group of people who are not internet savvy, don't ever read message boards or the athletic web site - and probably don't see the few mentions of the season ticket info in tiny print at the end of the Dave Reynolds articles.

I heard today that if you were a season ticket holder in the red and white sections (nose bleed area) that you could not buy tickets between the baselines. Since I go to Florida from the 26th of Dec thru 1st week of Feb. I made the mistake to buy the cheapest season ticket I could. Won't make that mistake again. I assure you. Thanks for offending someone who's been a ticket holder for the biggest part of nearly 50 years.

if I said anything about this that offended you, I am sorry - and I think if they made any ticket moves that are troubling - it is not for any reason other than to try to appease the fan base - not cause more offense...

I think they should have offered TWO simple ticket options for season ticket purchases...
                        A) every game, RC included
                        B) only Carver Arena games - this option would, of course, be a lower price

all the other ticket packages could be offered later maybe not even promoted 'til after all the season tickets are in the fans' hands so as to avoid the confusion.

BTW -- this is at least the third year we've been doing this - (although we've kinda done it forever with exhibition games up at the Fieldhouse and even one regular season game there a few years back)...
and all you have to do is look back to the threads about the Ren-Col games in 2011, 2012, and now...all the same, every year - confusion, followed by anger among some fans, some fans upset about having to buy additional tickets above & beyond their season tickets, fans worried that they might not even get tickets because they are not season tix holders, etc, etc..

Lots of other schools do this same thing and play games in two different arenas - I have cited at least a dozen of them - DePaul and UW-M are nearby examples and both Creighton & Wichita have done so in recent years
                        - and nobody seems to ever have problems like this except us - but wouldn't you think by the 3rd or 4th year of doing it we'd have the kinks worked out??

                          R.C. Tickets

I certainly agree that ticket confusion reigns. Even the ticket office isn't sure of what's happening. The "Keystone Cops" strike again!
Seriously, all of this is driven by one indisputable fact---The insistence by BU that certain games be played in the 5,000 seat R.C. rather than the Civic Center. Now they are trying to jamb 2 lbs. of stuff into a 1 lb. bag and it isn't working very well and is once again angering a large part of the diminishing fan base. When will they learn?

Didn't think there were any bad seats in the new gym. How could there be with that small a capacity? IMO, just buy a ticket for the game and enjoy the Braves again. If it's like most games there, you should be able to move around because they have been far from sellouts. Hope that's not the case thus time around.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I think it was the great Richard Nelson who said...."well it's alright now learned my lesson well, you can't please everyone so you've got to please yourself."
