With the judges' ruling today, the question is- How does Geno pay back the $1.2 mil plus interest. I know there will be an appeal but if he loses the appeal the interest will really add up.

Can't speak for Geno but it would be hard to me to stay focused with this terrible news today!
Has anything like this happened to another D1 basketball coach before as far as paying back an entire 4 year contract back with interest? What's the odds of a coach making it through a 4 year contract anyway?

1st - get a new atty
2nd - appeal and get the case out of Ohio
3rd - remember - Geno is not on the hook for all of it, as it was revealed in discovery that the agreement Geno has with BU (contract) places obligation for BU to pay up to $400,000 of any "buyout"..
so this ruling also impacts Bradley University tot he tune of $400K..
testimony on the record in this case stated...
"Dr. Cross stated that the issue of damages was between Coach Ford and KSU.." (pg 5)
"Bradley U's contract upped Coach Ford's annual base salary to $700,000
and offered to pay $400,000 (called a "buyout" in Bradley U's memorandum
of understanding) toward Coach Ford's liquidated damages to KSU." (pg 6)

Bradley's attorney said their intent was to appeal - I suspect they will do so as many times as necessary to get the case out of the Ohio system
according to their own site - the appeal would go to the Eleventh District Court of Appeals
..from there if appealed further it goes to the United States Court of Appeals - Sixth Circuit
