Athlon was a bit more enjoyable to read....for BU fans.........but only a bit - I still wouldn't have bought the issue.
Here's how they predict the MVC on the front page of their Valley Preview section...
(but read below to see there was a discrepancy)
1- Wichita State
2- BRADLEY
3- Indiana State
4- UNI
5- Missouri State
6- Evansville
7- SIU
8- Drake
9- ISU
10- Loyola
BUT !!! Before anyone gets too thrilled about where they see BU finishing and how they expect BU to do...
then they discuss the individual teams with the top three picks getting a FULL page of expanded coverage & text -- and the rest of the teams getting far less ink...
....Then we see that they made a mistake back on that first page...
they really have picked Indiana State at the #2 spot, and go into detail as to how InSU & Wichita are the only two teams this year in the Valley that they have much respect for...
Then they come to Bradley - really at the #3 spot in the the league and start right out saying that there's going to be such a VOID in the MVC since there's only two decent teams - that just about any of the other teams besides WSU & InSU could step in and take spot #3 but they're going to give it to Bradley sorta by default since we do return a couple good players.
So after complimenting BU with their frist page prediction of a #2 finish - then slamming them by saying they have a chance for 3rd but only because the Valley is so devoid of quality teams - they proceed to babble about all of BU's new players but admit they have no clue who's gonna actually play other than Walt & Tyshon.
so it was a bit of an interesting read -- Walt, of course, gets a 1st Team slot for their All Conference picks - but beyond that I'd say not much else was worth reading.
