Really DC??¦what makes the difference? November or December??¦does it really matter?

    • historically the TV packages were in place and made known way, way earlier - usually October & even in September before the season started...

the past couple years has it dragged into November, December that we still haven't heard anything..
I guess we can always just read the paper on game day to find out - I still like to listen to Dave Snell

I guess it doesn't change my life knowing the schedule in October or December

        • we had FOURTEEN events (including NINE games) that are on the schedule (the one on the web site) - at multiple venues before
the first day of December arrived -- plus a few other events like the ticket-holder breakfasts & open practice - so if people
don't see a thing about the BU TV games or are not prompted to check or look at a schedule 'til December, then perhaps that's a small reason
why everything that's been done so far was half empty - ya think?

Yes. But I wouldn't use the word empty.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

              • I have never had so many people ask me "when does Bradley start playing basketball games", and "when is the next game" as I have had this year.

If anyone here or at Bradley think the majority of the older fans use computers every day, and log in on the BU website to check the schedule, they are thinking rather shallow.
In past years they had media guides mailed to them, they had pocket schedules, they had ads running before every game in the PJS sports section announcing the next game, there were billboard ads, radio ads, and TV ads, and they even got refrigerator magnets with the schedule on them most years. And there were frequent games broadcast on TV in the past to generate the interest and remind the casual fans the games were being played. Couple that with a ton of early games and switching venues, and a lot of people missed games because of the lack of promotion, or because they didn't even know they were being played. I have had a number of fans tell me they didn't know there was a game after they saw it the next day in the paper.

I am sure some will scoff at this, but I can guarantee it has been a factor. Maybe nobody cares at Bradley, but that might be part of the problem.

I didn't change anything I do because I didn't know in October. Makes no difference to me as long as we get a package by Valley time.

So they must not have read the paper on the day of the game or read the hoops section with the schedule either....

Are you serious? Do you think every person who follows Bradley or who might buy a ticket to a game is the same level of fan that frequents this message board? The great majority of fans do not follow this message board, or log onto the Bradley website. And those who seek out the pregame story or the Hoops Section, are probably the fans who are going to be going to the games anyway. I would think Bradley might just want to reach out to the more peripheral fan. Those are the people who used to buy individual game tickets, and walk-up tickets in large numbers, but who have now disappeared completely.
The first rule of marketing is to promote your event to the widest number of people you can. If you or the people at Bradley think they are doing that with their stealth approach to advertising and not televising the games, then that explains why there were less than 3,000 people at the last 3 home games.
Maybe you are happy to see this. I am saddened by it, and it shows the ineptitude of the marketing efforts.
I can recall a few people wailing and belly aching about the mild attendance drop in 2011 when the team was decimated by injuries, and using that as the main reason we needed to change coaches. Now we see drops of 5,000-6,000 actual tickets scanned for each home game, and apparently there is no reason for concern. That kind of mentality will insure it only gets worse.

Just kind of messing with you DC......you mentioned people didn't know there was a game until they read about it in the paper the next day...hence my comment if they read the paper then they know there is a game that day since there is always an article about the upcoming game.....and who said they aren't televising the games?..and who's talking about 2011?.....

When was the last time we were 10 games into a season, and still didn't have a single televised game? I can't find that was ever the case!

And a much smaller attendance drop in 2011 (as well as 2002) were factors supposedly in firing the last couple coaches. And we all know it was mostly due to unforseen injury issues.

But now we have lost thousands more in attendance, and most of our programs are foundering and we think we are doing a great job. Everyone keeps getting promotions and raises!

Haven't see a game on TV yet and there usually have been at least 3 or 4 or more by now.
