Oh how it would be nice now to have some of those butts back into the seats. While our teams did not always play well on the road, it was unusual to lose at home ... our players recognized a pretty full arena at home and felt the community support behind them. The players had an opportunity to interact with the "average" fan at events such as the Itoo Supper and in turn the "average" fan felt special. IMO administration gambled with raising prices for future return since hiring Geno, anticipating success and demand for seats. Unfortunately the team has not performed as anticipated. In general, the 80/20 rule is in pay...probably 20 percent (or less) of those fans supporting BU are generating 80% of fan revenue. If you cater only to those 20%, expect to eventually see them plus a few in the arena. If you want to see more families in the arena, think about deep discounts and make it AFFORDABLE to the mid-income family. This administration does not have that mentality ... Basic principle -- if I go to a store and think about buying something that is not popular or has major flaws, I expect to pay very little for it. Why would anyone pay at a minimum $50 for a family of 4 to watch Bradley Basketball. Before hiring an outside consulting firm how about out of the box thinking with $3 tickets for upper bowl or $5 tickets for lower bowl available seats until the team has some sustained success. Simple question...with the current status of the team do you want butts in seat or standing firm in "people should be willing to pay to have the privilege to watch Division I basketball?"

I suggest you read posts 3 days to 3 months ago....Nelligan has absolutely nothing to do with ticket sales or pricing policies...

Good then they wont have any problem changing that

I wasn't suggesting Nelligan has any say in pricing policy. My suggestion was in part that before $$ is spent on outside firms, try listening to fans and INDIVIDUALS WHO UNDERSTAND PEORIA AND SURROUNDING AREAS on what would get them to a game. There is a reason for the cliche "if it plays in Peoria it will play anywhere." Peoria and surrounding communities are unique...something we are proud of and something that should be embraced and not criticized by those who feel they have a better pedigree and who have perhaps only a small vested interest -- building their resume to sell to the next highest bidder. Bradley Basketball was one area that as a whole the community was behind and took pride in supporting. Good years and bad. Now many have lost interest, tired of defending their pride in tradition.

T, you took 13 words out of my post and made it look like IMO that was the only reason the crowds are dwindling. Read the whole thing and you will see that I said that wasn't the only reason.

I'm not blaming it all on the economy at all but people have changed their priorities??¦we were becoming an older fan base and the younger people just aren't as interested. I'm surprised how few people go to HS games as well now??¦.I don't go alot a lot but I don't see packed HS gyms either like I use to.
Would you, or do you, venture out to a Central or Manual home game now days.

+1000. Glad to have a relative newcomer to the board tell it like it is.

Absolutely correct, lefty. For some reason there is a huge disconnect on this.

Might have nothing to do with teaming with Nellingan, but it sure woukdn't hurt for someone to listen to fans and pay attention to their concerns about the program many have been supporting win or lose for many years.

I agree they should listen to fans...........heck hiring Nelligan's could have been a result of that for all we know...

I was saying a little in jest really...what I meant was maybe some fans told BU they ought to consider hiring a firm to handle the sponsorships,TV and radio instead of BU doing it themselves....

My original response Chico to reality...was when he said before hiring a marketing firm they should talk to fans...BU should talk to fans all the time IMO...of course they will get a million opinions and can't do all of them but at least hear the concerns.....heck that's what Nelligan's is doing, talking to people who have done sponsorships and promotions..what they like and what they don't...

Ok question: Has anyone from this website ever talked to Nelligan? Do you know of anyone that Nelligan has talked to? Has anyone from the Bradley Booster club talked to them? I dont know and was just wondering. I would consider this website and the Booster club the core of the Bradley fans. I would hope they would talk to Bradley people outside of the Administration
