The latest on the never-ending legal battle between Kent State vs. Geno Ford and Bradley-
Comment

Today marks 6 and a half years since the Kent State lawsuits were filed against Geno & Bradley (4/26/2011)...and there's no end in sight...
every settlement and judgement has been immediately followed by re-filings and appeals...
Here is a good, but lengthy and complex summary as filed just a couple days ago in the latest appeal (Note Geno is no longer being sued since they won their claim against him so now they can turn all their resources to going after Bradley)
Note, that the way Bradley is paying Geno still and even paying some of his attorney fees (which are well over $100K) are part of the reason Bradley is being dragged back into court - since Kent State claims Bradley has conspired with Geno to pay him in a manner that will avoid Kent State's ability to garnish or take part of his wages - and even paying some of his salary owed directly to the attorneys so as to hide it from garnishment.
This is gonna drag on for a long time and was so preventable had those in charge (Glasser & Cross) not run roughshod over every conceivable rule of running an Athletic Department.

The appeal by Kent State has finally been decided - MORE THAN 8 years after Kent State filed the first lawsuit...(4/26/2011)

the decision is long & complex but as best as I can see, basically upholds the hiring interference and specifically NAMES Joanne Glasser and Michael Cross as parties to the willful violation of Geno Ford's contract with Kent State. (tortious interference)
(Paragraphs 44, 45, 48, 79, & others - and especially #95- detailing negotiations between Geno, his agent & Joanne Glasser)
Thus the jury reverses the prior summary judgment in Bradley's favor. However, it leaves open any decision as to damages and further rules that damages should be paid by Geno Ford for the violation of his contract- NOT by BRADLEY. (Paragraph 105)
Geno had a "buyout" of four years' worth of his salary ($300,000) thus the damages for that violation were previously set at $1,200,000.
the case is then "Remanded" back to the court to determine details of damages against Bradley for Glasser & Cross' actions.
So- Bradley does not have to pay Geno's buyout (Geno does) and Bradley did not rig their payments to Geno so as to make it harder for Kent State to get their money via garnishing Geno's salary. (Kent State has action in Peoria County Civil Court on the garnishment)
But Bradley may be liable for damages in the tortious interference.
The decision was made by a THREE judge panel and one of the judges dissented and believed Bradley did NOTHING WRONG (Paragraph 134). Unfortunately the majority opinion of the other two judges stands and Bradley may still have to pay damages in the tortious interference claims. The case was sent back to the court to decide that issue.
BUT carefully read "Paragraph 48"
It says that Michael Cross had narrowed his coaching search to FIVE CANDIDATES for the coaching vacancy and that
Geno Ford was one of them at the time that the offer was made to Geno.Last edited by tornado; 05-28-2019, 07:53 PM.

And as previously reported, I also have heard from several other reliable sources that prior to hiring Geno, Bradley offered the job to several other candidates who turned it down.
But not surprisingly, our local sycophantic media never questioned Cross' ridiculous claim.

and the testimony that Ford, Ford's agent and others at Kent State all negotiated directly with Glasser is astounding - and all the more proves Michael Cross was just a puppet who had absolutely no legs and that virtually every major decision in athletics was made by Glasser. And that Cross simply was a yes-man puppet who cow-towed to the boss... But he sure was well paid for doing little....

just a little followup I found on this entire fiasco that lasted almost a decade, with Kent State filing numerous
lawsuits against Geno Ford & Bradley:
Several earlier rulings had found Geno in breach of contract and he owed big $ to Kent State, but the last entry in the docket says he still hasn't paid all he owes and has been sent to collections.
Bradley also had been ruled guilty of "tortious interference" for getting involved in hiring Geno away from Kent State.
However- GOOD NEWS, Bradley continued to appeal and finally won a complete dismissal of charges!!
"KSU (Kent State University) failed to meet its burden of proof ... Therefore...based on the Court's finding ..
Counts One and Two (the main two counts against Bradley) ...be dismissed"
But, then Kent State filed further appeals still trying to slam Bradley for a million & a half $, but in the end
all their appeals were finally dismissed - altho the final ruling says Bradley was not stuck with the costs of the appeals.
...no telling tho how much $ the whole fiasco ended up costing Bradley as a result of JKG's incredibly poor judgment.
