  • ISU point guard arrested for felony battery

More serious arrest trouble at ISU..

Coach Muller says he is still on the team - just suspended for violation of team rules

..of interest, however - is that this arrest happened back on August 26 - and now that he has been arraigned, word of it reached the Pantagraph people and this whole thing is just now getting attention..
BUT - surely Coach Muller knew about this for the past 3 weeks yet did not suspend Knight...and only now says - "We are still getting all of the details, and we will continue to handle the situation internally .."
..and there was no public mention 'til it hits the newspaper...sounds familiar...

Daishon Knight was teammate of Auston Barnes last year at Odessa, and was a high school teammate of Josh Selby & our Omari Grier....
..but he's really pretty well travelled..
He changed high schools more than once, repeated a year, still wasn't qualified so went to another year of prep school out east, then still wasn't a qualifier
    - so he went to Blinn juco then Odessa last year...he's already as old as most college grads...

there is a reason these "highly rated" kids are popping up and going to ISU... no one else wants them

with ISU having so many such players - juco kids that struggled to get eligible, and kids with baggage, I wouldn't be surprised if there is more news on this topic....

        Hopefully this blows over.
        Knight is good at basketball.

Daishon Knight, a highly regarded juco recruit for Dan Muller's ISU Redbirds, just reached a plea bargain and plead guilty to 2 misdemeanors, and the felony charge was dropped.

Let's see if he is "reinstated" to play in ISU's first game against VCU on Friday. If so, his "suspension" will not have cost him a single game.

it didn't hardly cost him while he WAS suspended - as he took part in practices and scrimmage vents.....
            - even their Red-White & Hoopfest contests...

Maybe he can play against VCU and then sit the next game.

Nope- He was just "fully reinstated"-

So his "punishment" will not include missing a single minute of any game (except one exhibition)

Anything short of him being kicked off the team will make you guys happy. He did sit out against Quincy.

that's interesting - he pleads guilty to assaulting and punching a woman in the face and gets right back on the team....

The felony he was charged with was reduced to a misdemanor for the plea bargain-
BLOOMINGTON — Illinois State junior guard Daishon Knight pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts for battery and resisting arrest Thursday as part of a plea deal that dismissed a felony aggravated

He does have "to complete 24 months conditional discharge and 100 hours community service for battery and resisting arrest, both misdemeanor offenses, as part of a plea deal that dismissed a felony aggravated battery charge."

AssistantState’s Attorney Jessica Woods said the basis for the charges involved a fight in downtown Bloomington where a police officer saw Knight punch a woman in the face for no apparent reason. Knight then ran from the scene as a Bloomington officer was trying to place him in handcuffs, said the prosecutor.
I understand ISU will not allow any females to sit in the first 2 rows for their own safety.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."
