Nice find.
Patrick will have a tough battle for a roster spot, and another player the Bobcats just signed is an MVC contemporary of his, Anthony Tolliver of Creighton.
Since appearing in 36 games for the Clippers in 2009-10, Davis, 33, has played in several different countries. As far as I can tell, O'Bryant, still just 27, split last year between the D-League's Reno Bighorns and the Lithuanian team Lietuvos Rytas.
Patrick O'Bryant makes the first cut...
The Bobcats cut three players (Gaddy, Southerland and Daniels) to get to 15 on the preseason roster and they have kept POB & Anthony Tolliver.
Charlotte plays their first preseason exhibition game tomorrow against Atlanta.
Speaking of preseason NBA basketball...two more things...
it was really enjoyable seeing the Bulls with Derrick Rose play Saturday and beat the Pacers..
Rose played well after being out for a year & a half - Danny Granger player very poorly and may have a hard time getting his starting spot back from Paul George
Also - noted that the 76er's played a preseason game vs. Spanish team Bilbao - and ISU's Jackie Carmichael started for Bilbao.
Evan Turner had a great game, 25 pts...
Carmichael struggled, missed some easy shots and barely played after halftime - finishing with 6 pts/2 reb.
Sixers edged Bilbao 106-104
POB didn't play in the Bobcats' 87-85 loss to the Hawks - Anthony Tolliver had 3 pts/8 rebs
Brad Stevens loses his exhibition debut 103-102 to the Knicks..
Tim Hardaway, Jr. - who fell to the #24 draft spot!! - was the hero with TEN 4th quarter points!
Brendan Haywood is out for 12 weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot. We all know these foot injuries linger. Maybe this helps open up a spot for POB? Charlotte is short on Centers, but they do have a lot of 6'8"-6'9" PFs. He's still hanging on after the Bobcats cut two more players yesterday.
POB did not play at all in Charlotte's first two exhibition games, making it likely he's on the bubble if they have to cut to regular season roster..
Now Al Jefferson, their starter in exhibition game 1, is out with an ankle sprain..and still POB didn't play in the 2nd exhibition - Biyombo started with McRoberts & Tolliver being the only big man subs.
They started out the exhibition season with POB, Haywood, Jefferson & Biyombo as centers on the roster, plus McRoberts, Tolliver, & Cody Zeller as big men/PF's..
They play again tonight against the Cavs - so if your team has only FOUR centers & TWO are out with injury and you still don't play even a minute - then things do not look promising for POB....and I am not the only one who thinks so - these guys
seem to be predicting he's gonna get cut..
anyway - of all the interesting topics that keep coming up over and again -- I think Bradley fans will forever speculate on what could have been had POB stayed in college an extra year or two...
Not saying he didn't cash in nicely by going when he did but from a pure college basketball standpoint - he might have been a truly dominating center in the MVC and developed into a player who might have had staying capacity in the NBA.
Patrick O'Bryant finally got into an exhibition game - with the Bobcats killing the 76ers, POB played the final 5:58 of the game
but the Bobcats had a whopping 101-63 lead when POB came in.
In his 5:58 he went 1-4, 2 pts, and 5 rebs...and he got a couple blocks
Bobcats played last night with just one center - Biyombo going 33 min and scoring only 7
Haywood & Jefferson are out...POB trying to get on with another team

When a team has only 1 center, and you are a center, and you get released, I think it should tell you to hang it up.
I know - the situation at Charlotte was tailor made for POB to claim a spot and yet he still got cut -- I don't think I have ever seen anyone claim he has no talent - in fact it is his talent that keeps getting him opportunity after new opportunity --
but it is his work ethic that seals the ultimate deal again and again and he gets cut
POB has agreed completely with this fact - LINK
