Ryne Sandberg officially becomes full-time Major League manager

He is hired as manager of the Phillies to replace Charlie Manuel

most recently Ryne has been a minor league manager, a coach on the Phillies' staff, and even filled in as interim manager for a couple games in the preseason

Ryno should have named Cubs manager a few years ago when Mike Quade was named manager. Not many Hall of Fame ball players would go back to the minors to try and become a manager at the major league level. By all accounts he did a good job. The guys played hard for him. He held guys accountable. Whether that works at the major league level remains to be seen. Not a good start tonight, losing 4-0 to the Dodgers.
