  • Amateurism/Manziel/NCAA

I am sure we've all heard about Johnny Manziel reportedly getting paid to autograph lots of items that are available for sale...
this is an NCAA violation and Manziel (the Heisman Trphy winner) might be deemed ineligible - much to just about everyone's dismay - Manziel, the NCAA, his school, the press, the TV guys...

BUT just how common is it that guys who claim to be amateurs are signing tons of stuff then finding a way to put it on the internet for sale...
well... just google just about any college star, you'll find out...

The sheer bulk of signed stuff that is for sale makes one very suspicious about all this...not sure how the NCAA could ever police it....
..SO - how does NCAA deal with all this???? let it go ??
I suspect Manziel will get a nominal penalty but even if banned he still goes straight to the NFL next year...

    --- etc....

    Here's an interesting development...
Alabama just deemed (& the NCAA concurred) that one of the Alabama players is ineligible because of receiving impermissible benefits....(there's also rumors of contact with agents)... and the player is instantly suspended...as is the assistant coach who paid him over the summer - and they even concede the assistant has had some association with agents as well...

...and thus, they have confirmed that he played in the Texas A&M game while ineligible...so could that mean Alabama might be forced to forfeit that game??

An Alabama strength coach was placed on administrative leave after it was discovered he provided Ha Ha Clinton-Dix with impermissible benefits.
