when BU played their Red-White I noted that the players combined on both Red & White made only one 3-pointer in the first half -
That sparked a discussion where some thought we'd be just fine on 3-pt shooting but are we?
I think Da Coach was right all along taking some heat and going against the company line that so many have fallen for...
Agree somewhat- as I have said before, we need 1 or 2 high quality outside shooters who can make teams pay for double teaming and zoning us.
Maybe we have those guys among the incoming players and transfers, that is yet to be seen. But I still think that might be a weakness for next year's team. Last year Bradley made 60+ fewer 3-point shots than their opponents- that is a huge difference for a team that isn't a dominating inside scoring team.
I saw earlier where we were worried about Fields....we knew he wasn't a good
shooter but he had 3 assists and only 1 TO.....not bad ....
I
nternational rules could have a little impact on how we play too...
That is hopeful- he did not shoot well, but he didn't turn the ball over. He did only have 1 assist through 3 quarters, and got a couple early in the 4th quarter when Walt was on the bench with 4 fouls.
I'm one of the people who thought our 3 point shooting would be much improved. First of all, this is just one game. Second, I said that because we have two incoming players who shot over 40% from behind the arc their last season-- Grier and Barnes. Barnes didn't play this game and Grier was 2-6, so I see no reason to panic.
Zecevic was a guy who I had heard was a good shooter, and his 0-6 night is troubling. Still, I don't want to read too much into one game.

I don't think anyone is all that upset that Bradley lost, since it was a rather meaningless exhibition game, But as these games progress, fans want to see signs that we have filled some of the deficiencies we have seen the last couple years (lack of a true point guard, outside shooting, depth and bench scoring, etc.). There is less chance this team improves significantly if we don't see those things, and last night they were not evident. But there is a long way to go.
But speaking of people putting too much importance on a meaningless exhibition game, I got a kick out of looking back to Nov., 2008 after an exhibition loss to Wisconsin-Platteville.
And the reaction by some fans was quite different for a similar early season meaningless exhibition loss. But those were different times. By the way, that team went on to a 21 win season, the last winning MVC record we had and a 4 seed in the MVC tournament, and an RPI of 103 against an MVC-best SOS of 64. I think most fans would be happy with that.
What I found interesting in the box score was that the other team shot 53 free throws, granted they only made 28, this could have been a huge blowout. Also BU's free throw shooting was also abysmal at 8-18. That has nothing to do with how early in the season or international rules.
We will be fine. That is what these games are for: finding our faults. Geno will probably have a different starting lineup each game. He will be doing some experimenting to see what works best

Not trying to start trouble, but the thread you linked to goes to a postgame thread for our regular season loss to UMKC, not an exhibition to UW-Platteville.
