I see nothing wrong with saying that Bradley has the very best fans...
in fact, many if not every single one of the players stated they could see that Bradley has the very greatest fans...and they were looking forward to playing in front of them...
I actually kept a box score but it is hard to say how accurate because of the points scored in rapid succession, with some points being awarded and put on the board when there was a foul...
but the 4 or 5 guys who had the most points were Walt & Tyshon plus Blake and Barnes.... JP did OK down low...Omari Grier does appear to be a good outside shooter
here are the rough scoring totals I had but as I said a couple of the points that were awarded happened when I was screened and couldn't see who was the shooter - but then they didn't make those baskets anyway - they just awarded 2 pts..
Auston Barnes 13
Tyshon Pickett 12
Xavier Taylor 6
Chris Blake 14
Walt Lemon 18
Nate Wells 4
Omari Grier 9 (hit the only FT when coach was demonstrating the press after FT's)
Jordan Prosser 8
Darion Harris 3
Jordan Swopshire I had him for just one 3-pointer but I think he may have had another
Stefan Zecevic - shot wasn't falling but got a breakaway dunk - 2 pts & I was impressed with his energy on defense. **
Anthony Fields - attempted a couple shots, mostly at the expiration of the shot clock and they were pretty desperation shots - scoreless
Mike Shaw, Ka'Darryl Bell, Mason Alwan - DNP
Coach said since SZ still doesn't have full command of language his answer to every question ever asked is "yes, coach" - so Geno kinda likes that!

A limited number of fans will get their exclusive opportunity to preview the upcoming season when the Braves host a luncheon, closed practice and intrasquad scrimmage at Renaissance Coliseum.
Here is a suggestion I'd recommend for you and for any Bradley fan-
Go here--> http://www.bubraves.com/main/NewsMai...DB_OEM_ID=3400
and sign up your email address to receive all the Bradley basketball press releases. You'll get all the news about Bradley basketball by email, usually before it's posted on the website. That includes pregame articles, postgame articles, and a lot of updates covering everything from general news to information about the players.

To me, the two biggest difference makers were the two juco kids who look to be fully capable of playing well in Valley play
Geno is fun to listen to -

I think right now this year's team has a good chance of being a bit better - we lacked depth down low and as I noted elsewhere, we got pounded & dominated by the likes of USF's Victor Rudd (15 pt/12 reb), Jackie Carmichael (27 pts, 13 rebs), Drake's Jordan Clarke (20 pts, 15 reb), of course Doug McDermott (32 pts, 11 rebs), but even at times Tulane's Josh Davis (17 rebounds), Justin Gant, Ryan Sawvell, Seth Tuttle (19 pts, 9 rebs), Egidijus Mockevicius, and the entire frontcourt of the Shockers ...
Many of the teams we handled were even weaker than we were down low (EIU, CMU, SIU..)
so this year we have some strength, long arms, agility, and desire to get it done down low -

I think the difference this year will be that the absence of Will's outside shooting threat, and Dyricus' ability to drive to the basket will make it harder for us to score, until other scoring options (beside Walt) develop. The first 13 games include at least 10 pretty weak teams, we should be able to overcome the lack of outside shooting, and maybe by the time the MVC games start, a couple guys will emerge as reliable secondary scorers.

kinda obvious that the only people there today were the very top fans who go to every event and can afford the cost - what we need is to draw a few more in....the attendance today was less than many would have liked to see - and I am sure the BU folks would have liked to see more.....they had hoped for 125...but the seating for lunch was around 40
regardless it was a great event - just too bad we can't do something like this at the Civic Center for several hundred or more...maybe a tailgate event?Last edited by wily coyote; 08-08-2013, 07:53 PM.
