  • Illinois State schedule

Illinois State has not finalized or posted their 2013-14 schedule yet, but it was reported that they were to participate in the Hoops for Hope Classic in Puerto Vallarta on Nov. 30 & Dec. 1st. It would have been a format similar to some of Bradley's recent tournaments where they would have hosted a couple games in Redbird Arena, then travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for 2 games there.

This site lists all the upcoming Holiday tournaments-
http://www.bloggingthebracket.com/20...nts-events-MTE (the Hoops fo Hope Classic is listed about half way down the list)

However, the tournament organizers were having trouble getting other teams to commit. The only other team ever listed as a participant was Northern Kentucky, a school transitioning from Division II to D1.
Now, the ISU beat writer Jim Benson of the Bloomington Pantagraph is reporting that ISU may pull out of the tournament altogether. That would leave a big void in their schedule. I hope the ISU fans didn't already buy their vacation packages to Mexico.

wow - this late and they have only two teams lined up--
...Puerta Vallarta is not a bad place to be - how come they can't get a couple other decent mid-majors??
They must have lousy sponsors & be forcing the teams to pay a bunch of the expenses so they don't risk taking a loss...

Looks like ISU has completely dropped out of this Puerta Vallarta tournament.
Instead, they will play in a tournament in San Francisco-

San Francisco, Vermont, and a team to be named later???
Are they even assured it'll be a D-I team although there are plenty of D-II's that would be upgrades on what they already have...

and they have made all their arrangements thru...Suzi Davis Travel???

Are we looking at another cupcake ISU schedule, or is the 2013-14 schedule more in the 'eclair' class?

I don't think you'll want to compare BU and ISU SOS last year or this year...

So you're saying Redbird's non con schedule this coming season is more in the 'scone' category?

                        ??
seriously -- so this year ISU is bragging about their monster schedule??
...in all due respect I do admit the past two seasons are a slight upgrade from Jank-like scheduling - at least you schedule someone in a major conference..but.......
You have only two "power conference" opponents - both perennially terribly weak bottom dwellers in their leagues - and both expected to be weak again this year.
Their bragging point is that a couple of their non-con opponents were CBI teams??? Gimme a break - BU's schedule - even in a BAD scheduling year is still stronger than that.

Not that I care to debate you on this sir, but VCU is also on ISU's schedule. You may have overlooked them, but let me remind you that they were a #5 seed in last year's tourney, and made it to the 3rd round (Final 32).

Also last year's BRADLEY's Non-conference SOS was 338 out of 347. Are you saying ISU's schedule this season is going to be worse than that?
