  • No Delaney at UNM yet

Looks like DeShawn Delaney has yet to show up at New Mexico. He is not on the roster yet and they are playing overseas right now.

finishing up what he needs to get his juco Associates Degree - this is why so many schools passed on him and knew he was a risk..

"Delaney is still finishing up three classes at Vincennes University in Indiana."

with the right connections we have seen coaches get kids eligible even when they need 24 hours over the summer!
UNM coach Craig Neal has already kinda pegged Delaney as a starter -

BTW -- recall that BU had Delaney as an absolute top priority, but despite his questionable academic status, we expended valuable time & resources on him while we had spots to fill only to be disappointed, and yet the New Mexico fans violated NCAA rules by contacting Delaney via twitter & Facebook to help lure him there..
    wonder if this is karma...

Here's an interesting Sports Illustrated interview with New Mexico head coach Craig Neal - who seems to pretty clearly & solidly name who his starters are going be...and one of them is a kid who hasn't even shown up on campus yet, Delaney -

He names four of them pretty solidly then says...
"He said the fifth starting spot will probably go to one of his junior college transfers,
Deshawn Delaney, a 6-5 guard from Vincennes University.."

Personally I think the coach hurts his own team by naming the starters this early and not making the kids go out & work for it..plus it's kinda disheartening to those who are not named...knowing that apparently nothing they can possibly do - even if they look like LeBron in practices - could move them into one of those sports.

DeShawn has completed his courses at Vincennes and is on his way to University of New Mexico...
....his coursework will be ruled on by NCAA but he is expected to be eligible...

                  Good luck to him!

Maybe we meet up in a post season tourney and show him he made the wrong choice!
