  • Oklahoma takes steps to prevent more NCAA violations

The University of Oklahoma has turned in a report to the NCAA detailing measures they intend to take to prevent further violations of NCAA rules involving illegal phone calls--

Excuse me for adding my own opinion here, but maybe the best way for Oklahoma U. to avoid more illegal calls, and thus aviod more NCAA sanctions, is to make sure the coach is ethical and doesn't try to break the rules to get an advantage in recruiting.

It's not as if these 577 illegal calls (these are just the ones there are documentation for) were just an accident or an oversight by Kelvin Sampson. They were made deliberately. Putting new policies into effect that mandate the review of phone records won't stop the cheating, if they don't correct the ethical deficiencies of the coaches. These measures will only assure that the next wave of illegal calls will be made from private phones that are not paid for by the University, so that the phone billing records will not be available to newspaper reporters.

This kind of sillinesss is just what you'd expect from the geniuses at the NCAA.
