Well - it's not the MVC unfortunately...
Based on several sources, I think it's easy to conclude none of the "non-BCS conferences compete for the top of this list...
On opening day last season in the NBA, University of Kentucky alone had 20 players on NBA rosters!
Duke had 18, UNC 17, Kansas 14, UConn & UCLA 12 each, Texas 11, Florida 10..
When evaluated by conference - the ACC had the most with SEC, Pac 12, Big East, Big 12, and Big Ten lined up behind...differing slightly depending on the time frame & the source..
The and Atlantic-10 (13), Mountain West (12), and WCC (8 ) lead among the non-BCS conferences, and even the CUSA (6), Colonial (4), and Sun Belt (3) have more active players than the Valley...
...also several smaller conferences (Horizon, Metro Atlantic, Big Sky, Southern, OVC) have as many as the MVC (2)...
This really does not speak well for the MVC considering how many players we used to send to the NBA (Hawkins, Bird, McDaniel, Parker, Benjamin, etc...)
Used to be that routinely a couple each year from the Valley played in the NBA - but not so recently - perhaps a factor of all the better players preferring to sit the bench at a BCS school instead of playing at a mid-major...
How many of the Missouri Valley PLAYERS of the YEAR since Anthony Parker have played in the NBA??
...answer - as much as I wish it were more - only one player who was MVC Player of the Year - since Anthony Parker
has played even a minute in the NBA - Kyle Korver. A few other kids have spent some time on NBA rosters - POB, Tolliver, Buford, Carr Hudson, Granger...
but our best players in the MVC don't have a good track record of getting to the NBA - and now that McDermott is a Big East player - I don't know if that's gonna change..
