Even with injuries to 2 of UTEP's big men, Romine played in just 14 games for a total of 50 minutes of playing time the entire season. He played briefly in 12 of UTEP's first 15 games, almost entirely against their non-conference opponents. UTEP's RPI was 215 and their SOS was a terrible 280 (far worse than any team in the MVC). Conference USA was a weak conference- ranked 22nd in conference RPI. Then once their conference season started, he appeared in just 2 of UTEP's last 18 games- 3 minutes against Florida Atlantic in a blowout win and 2 minutes against ODU in a blowout loss, even though UTEP played a bunch of 300+ RPI teams during that stretch. He scored a total of 12 points and managed just 5 rebounds for the season.

So what fact was skewed? Unless you are aware of some other reason that Tim Floyd benched him, I think it is pretty safe to assume he "fell out of favor with the coach that recruited him there". The fact that his coach gave up on him and that he is transferring clearly shows that.
