What facts were skewed? As far as I can see, every fact stated is correct.

Even with injuries to 2 of UTEP's big men, Romine played in just 14 games for a total of 50 minutes of playing time the entire season. He played briefly in 12 of UTEP's first 15 games, almost entirely against their non-conference opponents. UTEP's RPI was 215 and their SOS was a terrible 280 (far worse than any team in the MVC). Conference USA was a weak conference- ranked 22nd in conference RPI. Then once their conference season started, he appeared in just 2 of UTEP's last 18 games- 3 minutes against Florida Atlantic in a blowout win and 2 minutes against ODU in a blowout loss, even though UTEP played a bunch of 300+ RPI teams during that stretch. He scored a total of 12 points and managed just 5 rebounds for the season.
    Here is game log-
The 2015-16 NCAAM season stats per game for Christian Romine of the Illinois State Redbirds on ESPN. Includes full stats, per opponent, for regular and postseason.

So what fact was skewed? Unless you are aware of some other reason that Tim Floyd benched him, I think it is pretty safe to assume he "fell out of favor with the coach that recruited him there". The fact that his coach gave up on him and that he is transferring clearly shows that.

    • what facts are inaccurate? He played for a team that faced a 280 SOS of opponents, he was given the outstanding opportunity when the UTEP front court became thin...they took his redshirt off because the chance to play was hard to pass up.
All he had to do was score a little or grab a rebound and there was a spot for him & playing time available.
He has never played against top competition, he's from a small school that played Eureka-caliber opponents and still barely avg double digits.
How many HS teams have someone who can put up 10 ppg or 8 rpg? Answer - every single one of them - and most have 2 or 3 such players.
Not saying he can't bulk up and do what Dinma did - and become a star in a couple years, but I am not even sure Ball State offered, did they?
Two years ago he had a dozen offers coming out of high school - but very little interest now- given the frenzy that any big man gets when teams need to fill their rides

      • one more thing, and pass this on to Dan Muller...

if it's big men who might develop that he's after....there's a very readily & easily available 6-10 kid with a similar upside...
who played in a much tougher conference, played against better competition, and yet put up better stats than Christian Romine in real game situations - not deep garbage time only....

Double the scoring, triple the rebounding, 30% better FT shooting, and more assists, blocks, and other stats....

His name is Davante Cooper - and he's available now and might give you more than Christian Romine has ever produced..

        • Just since Hunter Rhodes verbaled, there have been several more moves....

Michigan transfer Spike Albrecht told ESPN he will transfer to Purdue for his final season. Eligible to play next season for Boilermakers.

Spike Albrecht choosing Purdue and spurning Wichita State at least might help give Peyton Allen a chance for a few minutes of playing time there.

Only "fact" that you maybe overshot, and it's not really a fact but your opinion, is the "he fell out of favor". According to his past AAU coach, again assuming he knows what he is talking about, Coach Floyd tried to convince him to not transfer. Assuming that means he didn't see him as just a bench filler down the road, which of course we don't know either.

Otherwise, facts are facts I suppose.

First of all, you quoted me incorrectly.
I said "he apparently fell out of favor with the coach that recruited him there, Tim Floyd", making it clear that it was a presumption. I don't know how much more clearly I could have stated that it was never intended to be taken as a fact.

And yes, that is still my opinion, and it seems pretty clear to me that is the case.
He played in the first 12 games that he was eligible to play, but then he only appeared very briefly in 2 of their last 18 games (the only 2 of their conference games that were blowouts). As far as I can tell, it was not because of injury, it was entirely because the coach chose not to play him in the conference games, when the games really mattered. People can call that whatever they want, but I think it is fair to say he fell out of favor with the coach.

Milik Yarbrough is now official - as is Christian Romine - they sign with ISU
The ones in Black signed last fall, the ones in Dark Red signed this spring, the ones in Red are apparently yet unsigned or no official release.

It would appear that only Drake, Evansville, and Missouri State have scholarships yet open with very scarce talent left out there this spring.

                        4 recruits on scholarship + 9 returning scholarship players = 13

                          • Dan Muller has filled his final available scholarship for 2016 by getting a commitment from 6'6" junior college forward Derrick "D.J." Clayton of Palm Beach State College. He is originally from Oakland, California, and spent his freshman season at Western Kentucky University, where he averaged 4.1 ppg and 2.4 rpg. he shot 34.6% overall, 28.8% from three, and 44.4% on FTs..
At Palm Beach State this past season, he averaged 13.2 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and shot 41.3% overall and 32.2% from three. He shot 61.3% from the free throw line.

they get a verbal from juco 2016 Miami Dade College forward Abraham "Dalen" Traore, 6-9
5.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 41.9% FG shooting, 57.7% FT shooting

I guess he must be the best big man left

                                SIU gets one, too
They land a commitments from another Florida juco guy..
Guard Jonathan Wiley from Panola College commits to the Salukis

                                12 ppg, 1.7 apg, 29.6% 3-pt shooting

I think we're getting to the end of the line of serviceable recruits...
