Tramique Sutherland's Letter of Intent has been received by Bradley so he's signed - LINK

Ernie Duncan - who had previously verballed to Evansville in 2012, thought he might be able to do better - so he withdrew his verbal and reopened his recruitment...
In the end he did NOT do better and has now changed his mind and will sign with VERMONT, but will wait & do so next Monday! - so he will not play for Evansville.

As noted above, Jay Knuth will not sign this fall and Loyola may choose to go a different direction but Knuth remains "committed to Loyola" and hopes to be able to sign in the spring, but it is suspected that is dependent on the outcome of several things this coming few months.

Thus every player known to be committed to a Valley team is either signed or accounted for otherwise - but don't rule out a surprise late addition or two before the signing period ends next Wednesday.

PLUS they announced two of their current freshmen will redshirt -
That means AT LEAST SEVEN totally new players next year after the loss of FOUR key players & starters (Wiggins, Lufile, Early, Coleby) - which may help the rest of the Valley catch up with the Shox - since it'll be hard for them to be the same kind of talented team with so many new players.

They have just four seniors - (Coleby, Early, Lufile, Wiggins) - so on the surface it seems clear, they are now oversigned and expect one of their current players to leave..

This may be the answer....- their other redshirting freshman, DJ Bowles - who is currently out with a serious heart condition - has been denied clearance to play at Wichita - thus he can stay at WSU and finish his academic career - or maybe he will leave and go elsewhere if he can find somewhere that will clear him to play.

Bowles will be allowed to stay on scholarship at WSU, but because his illness is career ending, his scholarship does not count against the limit. The four freshman and one JUCO we have in next year put the scholarship number at 13.

All five signees at WSU are 3* rivals players. None are top 150, however Marshall mentioned that Zach Brown would have been a top 100 had he remained unsigned and played AAU ball. Instead, he verbaled in the spring and practiced with the team.

Thanks - other players who had been denied clearance to play (Nick Knapp, Emanuel Negedu) have transferred to find playing time elsewhere - I am sure it is an option available to Bowles, but he may decide to stay and finish at WSU.

You are correct. Denzel has the option to transfer to a different school that will clear him to play, however WSU has made the decision that he is not fit for athletics. My understanding is that the incident was pretty horrific and that he was revived from death by the training staff. in the fall of 07 when Marshall came to WSU he was in the process of re-recruting Turgeon's signed commitments and went to see See Nlang (butchered the spelling). Guy confirmed with Marshall that he would come to WSU and proceeded to work out/play pick-up games while Marshall looked on. Guy had a similar episode to Denzel and died right in front of Gregg. I believe that is one reason that WSU decided not to clear him.

Thankfully Denzel survived but some in his situation do not - and the family I know well, lost their father & husband when he was in his 30's to such an event when his 3 children were under 10.

Interestingly - even the doctors who treat and study young patients with such events - have little or no solution as to how to see it coming.
Most of these young athletes are kids with NO apparent problem even if they would have been studied the day before the event - but some do have detectable heart issues.

As you probably know - one of Bradley's players was held out an entire year to thoroughly check out his heart so he wouldn't have this happen to him.

..it would require a scholarship opening up here mid-season - but don't count that out if someone of value is sitting right there....
