  • Timetable for Bradley's recruiting

note that in the last recruiting article by Dave Reynolds - Geno Ford actually gives a pretty specific timetable for landing recruits in his Class of 2014,
and he kinda did exactly the same thing last season.
Recall last summer & fall Geno said if we didn't have at least 2 of our 4 open scholarships filled by Halloween then it would be time to worry -

In the end we did land just two but one of them (Tucker) ultimately decommitted.

Well note what Geno says about this fall.......as we are offering many 2014 kids....

"three key pieces will need to be replaced after this season with the graduations of guard Walt Lemon and frontcourt guys Tyshon Pickett and Jordan Prosser."
(we have three open scholarships to fill for Fall of 2014)

"Ford said the program will save at least one scholarship for the spring 2014 signing period."

...so assuming he uses the same basic reasoning as last year - then I guess we can expect two verbals by Halloween but not likely three, as he seems very intent on saving one for spring.
So since Halloween is still three months away - we still have a lot of time to fill the two we are planning to fill this fall.

So who's gonna be the first to commit in Class of 2014?

Here's our needs - (with some examples of the recruits who have been mentioned that we are following or offered)

#1- we have to get a versatile scorer like Walt Lemon - this has to be priority #1, and since we don't have a lot of depth at this spot -
and....if maybe two good prospects want to commit - maybe take them both
(Riley LaChance, LaMonte Bearden, Rasham Suarez, Donte Thomas, Darius Austin, Darreon Reddick, Patrick McCaw)

#2- we have to have depth in the low post. As I pointed out in a thread a couple months ago - with the exception of POB we haven't had a ton of great low post players in the past 20 years - the stats of our best guys were little different than what we had in Egolf, Pross & Tyshon....
I never said we had all-world low post players in 2012-13 so of course some completely missed the point of the comparison, but I did point out that the guys we had last year were as good as just about anyone else since the Albeck era - the only contention/disagreement anyone could come up with on that topic was a petty misconception whether Jerry Thomas or Deon Jackson were dominant low post players - LOL -
(we're not following or offering very many big men right now - apparently banking on Mike Shaw......one who has been named...Jonathon Wilkins..)

#3- we need depth at PG (Jarvis Garrett, Marcus Bartley, Tevin King, Dominique Matthews)
