Fans are and will probably always be fickle. Unless a coach is showing improvement or winning titles, it will be "What have you done lately." One exception, Cub fans are Cub fans.

I'm guessing we are not going to recruit this kid any longer..
Articles and videos about Four Germantown H.S. basketball players arrested for possession on FOX6 News Milwaukee.

Just speculating here. This is a town and school slightly bigger than Morton. I see a few possible scenarios.

          1. Cops just doing their job. No other story.
          2. The Germantown coach is also a police officer on the Germantown force that made the arrest. Possible conflict/animosity between coach and arresting officers? Something like, "you didn't start my son," or "you cut my son."
          3. Coach knew of potential criminal problems and made himself an informant to the police.
          4. Coach had a problem (like at practice) with the players and was tired of dealing with attitude/disrespect. He tells fellow co-workers to be on the lookout for these guys.

I would say #1. Probably a good cop seeing high school kids riding around at 10:30 in the morning on a school day.

I wouldn't put any stock into anything Reynolds says about recruiting. He told us all how wonderful the recruits, that are now our players, were. He is the mouth piece for the drive by media that tells us how sunny things are in our basketball program.

I think we could do way worse - he's a diligent reporter but seems oddly "on board" lately as if he's supposed to support everything up on the Hilltop...
I agree that some of his "can't miss" and "difference maker" and "starting caliber" predictions for players who now don't even get a minute of playing time were a bit over the top.

No matter who the coach is, or who is writing the resume on new recruits, it's always the same positive reporting.

Chico, on that we would disagree - extremely few of the recruits we've seen in the prior decade got glowing writeups before they stepped on the floor - and mixed in were numerous columns attacking the recruiting broadly with "Too Many Jucos", "Too Many "D-I Virgins", roster turnover, transfers, plus drive-by attacks on ethics such as the slam that we cheated to get Marcellus Sommerville, that we cheated to run off TCS, and that the head coach "surrounded himself with people who favored expediency over the proper way"

                      recruiting

I think the reporters any info guys are always wanting to write something positive about a recruit to pump up the fan base and to keep us engaged all year.. I don't know why T has to bring up the previous staff it has been 3 years since they left LET IT GO!! IT IS OVER!! WHO CARES! No disrespect but enough is enough. You can bring a lot more to the conversation than the past T. You always have great info that is appreciated by all to keep us engaged all year and thank you for that..

Granted there were columns, and probably a few posts on this board, complaining about the things you mentioned, but the recruits themselves usually are positively written about and not all live up to expectations.

When has any college recruit not initially been written up in glowing terms -- coach speak? This is not a criticism of coach Ford. It is just a fact of life.

                            That's my point.
