  • Geno Ford - talks to media in basketball teleconference

Geno discusses all the new guys & returnees...
"I wouldn’t even be able to guess a starting lineup or a rotation yet. I think we’re nine or maybe 10 deep, which is great."

...also hints we could be a "contender"

I'm calling his bluff. I bet he could guess a starting line-up.

Barring injury, Ty and Walt are definitely starters. It would seem likely that Fields will start at PG. The SF would seemingly be Barnes or Swopshire. As for the 5, I think it's Jordan's spot at the start of the year, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blake ended up there at some point.

Then you have Bell, Grier, and Taylor, and that's ten.

Dave stated that we have moved from the bottom of the Valley to near the middle. I do not consider last year's finish at near the middle. We have a long road to being a contender.

I like that lineup and the subs coming in

Little bit of sandbagging there. We should be fine.

I'll take a line up of Fields, Lemon, Swopshire, Pickett, Prosser with a second unit of Bell, Grier, Barnes, Blake, Taylor. We should be 9 deep and 10 deep if Taylor can contribute right away. Hopefully SZ will surprise and give us something also.

Geno was a bit more accurate than Dave when answering his question...

"Do we need to make the jump into the next tier? Yes, we??™re hopeful we can
do that. But it??™s not easy in our league as we??™ve all seen. It was very difficult
for us to go from dead last to the bottom end of the middle pack.

Now we have to make a(nother) jump to be even more relevant.

              I certainly like our team."
