  • D-I coaching longevity

someone has done all the math...

-the median longevity in D-I right now is 38 months (barely over 3 years)

-25% of all D-I head coaches have been on the job 15 months or less

-41.9% of all players who will be true seniors have seen a coaching change in their time

-only TWO "power conference" coaches (BCS-type) have been on the job 5 years without an NCAA bid - one is the President's brother-in-law

-Syracuse's Jim Boeheim has been in his current position the longest (4/3/1976)

-Tenure in the MVC goes like this (with a few other relevant guys thrown in)

    #71 (among all D-I coaches) 3/22/2006 - Ben Jacobson - UNI
    #91 3/15/2007 - Marty Simmons - Evansville
    #106 4/14/2007 - Gregg Marshall - Wichita State
    #124 4/11/2008 - Jim Molinari - WIU
    #194 4/26/2010 - Greg McDermott - Creighton
    #202 6/15/2010 - Greg Lansing - Indiana State
    #212 3/22/2011 - Geno Ford - Bradley
    #221 4/1/2011 - Paul Lusk - Missouri State
    #226 4/05/2011 - Porter Moser - Loyola
    #270 3/28/2012 - Barry Hinson - SIU
    #271 3/29/2012 - John Groce - Illinois
