Frank William's son is DaMonte Williams, a 6'0" combo guard that just finished his 8th grade year and will be a freshman at Manual next year. He is the bottom picture on this page-

    C/O 2017 6’0″ wing guard
    DaMonte Williams (Peoria,
IL) is a nice slashing wing
    with length and athleticism.
    He needs to improve his
    decision making and play
    a more efficient game but,
    the upside is there.

I find it a little unusual to be listing players in the class of 2019 in the article. Isn't that reaching a little?

A sign of how thin local talent is right now? Never too early to begin recruiting hype....

BTW - Heard 'Titus' is starting to get some mid major offers and that Crean,
Calipari, Huggins, Pitino, and Self are waiting on his nursery school transcripts before offering.......

in the end - the final outcome at the Richwoods Shootout was pretty surprising and not discussed much...

Plenty of pretty strong teams were there - Manual, Central, Richwoods, Limestone, Pekin, Glenwood, some Chicago area teams, Aurora West, East Moline, and Springfield Lanphier - plenty of teams with highly rated D-I players like Larry Austin, Peyton Allen, etc..

and yet the team that swept thru the tourney and won it all was... Lincoln...
a team I suspect nobody thought would be there......
..any thoughts?? Lincoln just that good - or are we in for a disappointing season in our area next year for our local teams??

                  System, system, system....

Where most teams are "feeling things out" in the summer season, Lincoln is already playing Lincoln basketball. Those kids on that team (like all Lincoln teams) have been doing it since they started playing biddy basketball as 6 year olds.

Lincoln will always be a consistent program as long as Alexander is the coach. They have 2 players 6'2 Sr. Max Cook & 6'5 Jr. Gavin Block that will end up on scholarship for college. Both are tough high school guards. The whole team can knock down shots and are very fundamental. And on top of that they pass and share the ball extremely well.

Central: From who was there this weekend, we have a tough year with what they had. Ruff will make them guard hard but not much fire power or size.
Fr. 6'1 Jamir Whitelow is a player to watch though!

Limestone: Should be very good again this year. Shelby can flat out go, very streaky, still not consistent as a shooter. Lots of shots, lots of points. Seem to lack IQ and Composure at times.

Richwoods: Is young and athletic, have some size as well. But I question there ability over all to knock down outside jumpers consistently. So. 5'10Damien Gillispie, 6'6 So. Ashten Bean both worth a look.

Manual: is the toughest physically of all the Peoria Area Teams at the tournament. Sr. 6'4 Delano Jones is super active and one of those dudes that never slows down. He is a guy you hate to guard because of his activity. Fr. Demonte Williams is very poised for a freshman and played well most of the weekend. Athleticism and physicality of Lanphier got to him, however he never shied away from the challenge. He has a chance to be pretty darn good.

PND: Struggled against pressure over the weekend. However they were missing Sr. 6'0 G Shea Feehan who is the team's best player. Jr. 6'2 Demarco Washington played well during the tournament and is a tough strong physical guard. Jr. 6'6 Peter Hanley is a big body who is active and showed he could handle the ball a little bit.

Best Players at Tournament w/ D1 Potential: (In no order)

Larry Austin (Springfield Lanphier 6'2 Sr.)
Obediah Church (Springfield High 6'7 Jr.)
                    Terrance Shelby (Limestone 6'2 Sr.)
                    Max Cook (Lincoln 6'2 Sr.)
                    Gavin Block (Lincoln 6'5 Jr.)
                    Peyton Allen (Chatham 6'5 Sr.)
                    Cole Harper (Chatham 6'5 Jr.)
                    Alex Sorenson (Dunlap 6'8 Sr.)
                    Joah Robinett (Dunlap 6'7 So.)
Xavier Bishop (Springfield Lanphier 5'7 So.)
                    Ashten Bean (Richwoods 6'6 So.)
                    Peter Hanley (PND 6'6 Jr.)
C.J. Carr (Rock Island 5'6 Sr.)
Tyler Hall (Rock Island 6'3 Jr.)
                    Demarco Washington (PND 6'2 Jr.)
Jontell Walker (Aurora West 6'1 Sr.)
Ronald Griffin (Aurora West 6'4 Jr.)
Jamir Whitelow (Peoria High 6'1 Fr.)
                    DeMonte Williams (Manual 6'1 Fr.)

                    Others that I liked:

                    Hunter Rhodes (Canton 5'11 Sr.)
                    Delano Jones (Manual 6'4 Sr.)
                    Chris Williams (Limestone 5'10 Jr.)
                    David Anderson (Limestone 6'5 Sr.)
                    Scottie Wallace (Lanphier 6'6 Sr.)
                    Damien Gillispie (Richwoods 5'10 So.)

I did not go to the Central Shootout, but heard reports that Frank Williams' son, Da'Monte Williams - a 6-ft guard - is the real deal - and he plays in the Manual system where he's getting D-I caliber coaching already - especially on defense..

I would love to hear more about him, what colleges he's been talking to, etc....anyone with some info let us know...
I hope we're on the kid!

Here's a little on him from this morning's column

Does anyone know why Dave Reynolds isn't writing these articles about the summer basketball? He has done them in past summers and done a great job, but now they have a new guy, who apparently is an intern writing the articles.
