Here's the price of being successful as a mid-major

Using Kent State as an example....just as soon as they hire a guy and get successful - seems they lose their head coaches, over and over...

time and again when their basketball coach achieves moderate success - he gets hired away..
2001- they lost Gary Waters to Rutgers after a 24-10 season
2002- they lost Stan Heath to Arkansas after a 30-6 season
2008- they lost Jim Christian to TCU after a 28-7 season
2011- they lost Geno Ford to Bradley after a 25-12 season and the lawsuit over that one is still pending..

Then last fall - 2012 - they lost their football coach to Purdue after a 11-3 season

Now...they have a good season in baseball -- and their head baseball coach is leaving and headed to Georgia...
He has a career 350-188 record and took them deep into the CWS last year.

I have always felt that has been the main problem with the Missouri Valley. Coaches make a name for themselves then get offered a salary much higher than what they are making and is hard to turn down. Missouri Valley have had several coaches that have done well and moved on to bigger salaries

Not like at BU. They fire their coach after a 32-3 season.
