  • Illini's Myke Henry now leaving

according to U of I beat columnist Mike Tupper - Myke Henry has now decided he will leave and play elsewhere

I know this was mentioned in another thread but thought it was deserving of a separate thread -- will he follow his friend Mike Shaw?

ESPN Insider seems to suggest Myke Henry will consider these schools
DePaul, Bradley, Drake, Loyola (IL), Providence, SIUE, South Carolina

According to PBE it is Depaul. This is not a surprise.

Yes. Multiple sources confirming he is headed to DePaul.

I think the current staff at DePaul is making great strides in getting them back to their glory years. Not there yet but going in the right direction. Don't know all their incoming recruits but I've seen Billy Garret several times and now getting Henry and Hamilton really make them much better than they've been. Sure would like to renew our home and home series with them but, doubt that will happen.

DePaul fans hope you are right. But 2-16 and dead last place in year 3 under Oliver Purnell is not what most people consider "great strides". Fans are getting a little impatient. This current staff has been there for over 3 years, and they have finished last out of 16 teams in all 3 years he has been there so far, and their record was worse in year 3 than in year 2. They are 6-48 in the Big East over these 3 years. Attendance has plummeted and now players are leaving and Purnell is retooling with transfers, jucos, and Tommy Hamilton. I do think Billy Garrett, Jr. will be a good player, but I don't see a lot of other top talent coming in. I don't see them being competitive in the new Big East any better than in the old Big East.

I don't care what they've done in PAST. It's OVER,DONE, FINISHED,GONE but I do think they will be better with what he has coming in. Better recruiting year than any so far since he's been there. Agree they are still in a tough league but we'll see.
