  • OT - Brian Urlacher retires from NFL

Glad he decided to go out a BEAR... one of my all time favorites.

The Lovie Smith-coached Bears expect to do things differently and faster than the Dick Jauron Bears on both offense and defense. But as coordinators Terry Shea and Ron Rivera outlined points of the…

Great player, it's a shame the way he had to walk away and the FA situation with the Bears, but one the best of his time.

...Even if he was a step slow (Just gotta get my Chicago sports dig in after I give them a compliment)

Really hoping he comes out of retirement and goes to the Vikings so the Bears fans have to go through what the Packers fans did with Favre.

When Urlacher and the Bears went different ways I was really afraid that was going to happen. In the end though it didn??™t sound like the Vikings were really that interested in Urlacher, then again yajusneverno.

That $2 million was for a 2 year contract offer by the Bears.
I heard Urlacher interviewed on the WSCR radio this morning, and apparently he did not feel $1 million per year was worth putting his body through what he would need to do to play another year or two. He was seeking a much higher salary, and was not able to find any takers. By retiring as a Bear, I think he will find other opportunities to earn money in Chicago (endorsements, speaking engagements, TV or radio commentary, etc) where he could probably earn as much money as he was being offered to play, without the risks of injury and all the work involved.

Makes sense, but I don't blame the Bears for not offering him more.

Neither do I. Nor do I blame Urlacher for walking away. Gotta be a tough job.

I'm not a Bears fan, but I did appreciate Urlacher's play in the past. I thought I would share this Onion article that I found funny...
