I've never understood why they do measurements with and without shoes. Who cares how tall someone is in socks? As long as everyone is on the same measurement scale (with or without shoes) there is no need for both is there?
I actually think most people would prefer to know the measurement in socks...after all that's your BASELINE - your God-given natural height.
.. because almost every measurement you ever do of yourself, your kids, or anyone else is always in socks...
so what do I have to compare to if all the basketball players in the world insist that they height ONLY be stated in terms of how tall they are wearing shoes that exaggerate their height by 1.5 to 2 inches.

That's fine too... either way there isn't a need for two measurments...
I view wingspan as being equal or more important than height anyway... but I'm far from an NBA scout...
