Anyway, ISU's class looked pretty mediocre until their last two signings of Knight and McIntosh. This is courtesy of Redbird Recon on MVCFans:

    Hunter- Iona, Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville
    Middlebrooks- None
    Lofton- Duquesne, UW-Milwaukee
    Samuel- UMKC
Lee- SIU, Loyola (IL), UW-Green Bay, Western Michigan
    Wills- None
Lynch- Missouri State, Drake, La Salle, Northeastern
    Knight- SLU
    McIntosh- UCLA, Miami (

You can tell me that one of these players averaged 30 ppg in JUCO, but if they can do that while only getting an offer from Iona, that should raise some eyebrows. It looks like a good class now though, but I still think ours is better. Hopefully BU and ISU are duking it out for Valley titles and Dance cards in the near future.

For comparison, Bradley recruits' reported offers:

    Swopshire -- VCU, George Washington
    Fields -- Stanford
Grier -- None (canceled visits to Xavier and Colorado)
Barnes -- Detroit (canceled visit to Colorado State)
Blake -- Boston U., Wofford (canceled visit to Colorado State)
    Taylor -- Kansas State
    Shaw -- Tennessee, DePaul
Great post agree 100% but please don't post anything on here that makes sense or it will get deleted. The right to post opposing views don't last long on here.

LOL - opposing views occur roughly every other post - and this is one of the busiest message boards in all of college basketball - so tens of thousands of posts must be getting deleted continually??
      ...so you can't be serious

        Tornado,

You cannot tell me that the traffic here is what it used to be. This place used to be awesome. One of the best and busiest message boards in the conference, maybe the country, I honestly believe that. But it is not anymore.

It is not anymore because of the few posters on here in control who use it as their own personal blog to trash, demean, and undermine the program and administration. People get sick of the sarcastic backhanded comments and biased statements. It is obvious and people see right through it. It has driven away the traffic.

          BeBrave,
I dont see any let down over all in the traffic. There are times when traffic is heavier than other times but that is normal. I have not ever been told to shut up or watch what I say. I think if a person is personnally demeaning to another poster then they should be deleted. This is an exchange for ideas and information

I get people telling me all the time that I look like Tom Cruise so that is good enough for me but I don't believe it. I think I look like Brad Pitt and that I made a big mistake in leaving Jennifer Aniston.

That is certainly one way to look at it. BCS recruiters make mistakes all the time though. Take a guy like Diamond Taylor. Out of high school, he could have probably gonna to just about any BCS school he wanted (minus the elites like Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc). He choose Wisconsin. He ended up transferring to SIU, where even on a really poor team, he never saw the floor. There are plenty of Diamond Taylor"s out there.

On the flip side, take a guy like Colt Ryan. His offers out of high school were Evansville, Albany, Ball State, Kent State, Miami (oh), Middle Tenn State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, UW-GB. Not exactly the who's who of the college basketball world. Who in the MVC wouldn't take a Colt Ryan? There are plenty of Colt Ryan's out there too.

I certainly follow recruiting, but I always take offers and interest with a grain of salt. I can't speak for other ISU fans, but my personal enthusiasm in this class has much more to do with what I saw on tape, than who offered a scholarship.

I also agree with Da Coach, when he said you really can't put much on the stats and #'s. Some kids play in faster paced tempo's than others. Level of competition also figures in. But sometimes #'s do pop out at you. Take for example ISU recruit Bobby Hunter (5'10). He averaged 25 ppg. The eye popping thing to us, is he averaged 11 free throw's attempted per game.

Anytime you start pointing a finger at someone, you still have many pointing back at you. Let the other boards do what they want, focus attention on improving things here.

Oh, I agree there are no guarantees and no evaluation method is perfect. Coaches misevaluate, 3rd party services misevaluate, even the great Mel eye test probably has missed a few. I just think coaching staffs have more of a vested interest in their calls and likely have the best track record. They're not offering scholarships based on second hand info or 15 second YouTube clips, whereas some of these 3rd party guys do, especially when it comes to the sub-100 guys and the calls between 2 and 3 stars. If Bruce Weber thought Taylor can contribute in the Big XII or Larranaga thought McIntosh can contribute in the ACC, that means a whole lot more to me.

I agree stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. Plenty of reasons to believe they won't translate.

is Geoffrey Allen still on the roster - there was a short blurb in January about being temporarily suspended then nothing - not a word since- although
there have been reports that he is still in school at ISU and that Dan Muller might bring him back next season......

I think it is pretty obvious to everyone that he didn't dress and was not with the team the rest of the season after his arrest -
but none of the discussions you linked to state whether a return to the team next season has been ruled out.
My guess is he will not but he does have a couple years of eligibility left so he might be somewhere.
He never got any jail time and he can probably arrange to finish his probation anywhere he wants to go.

One final question cpac - why did the coach, the team, and the university choose to NEVER release a single official statement on Allen or his status after his arrest?
Just about every other school when they have such a situation or a player suspended or dismissed will make it clear and unambiguous via an official release.

                        Examples:

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

If you read the links above, there are statements from Muller that were given to the media. I don't think there was anything on the official website though.

Did Bradley EVER release any official statements regarding Egolf? Like ones that appeared on Bradley's official website (like the one's you linked above)?

yes and no -- first - Egolf wasn't dismissed from the team so there wouldn't have been the need for the kind of release I cited...
but in the game notes for the next several games there was a statement that he was suspended and not making the trips with the team.

Your right Egolf wasn't dismissed. But here you said:

Suspended or dismissed is what you said. So that is what I thought you were looking for.

but it was never much in doubt that Egolf was suspended and would be reinstated when his case went to resolution - which is exactly what happened...

with the Geoffrey Allen case - there was never any official statement from the university at all and only an impromptu comment reported by the Pantagraph that Muller had said Allen was suspended..
thus even a casual observer might readily conclude they are leaving the door wide open for him to return
