  • Former AAU coach says he took cash to steer Ben McLemore to Kansas

USA Today has an article that claims a former AAU coach for Ben McLemore took thousands of dollars in cash to help promote his career while he was still in high school, and that he arranged free trips for McLemore and a relative to meet with agents to represent him in the pros.
    Interesting article-

No, he says he took cash to steer McLemore towards an agent in the 2012-13 season, not to steer him towards Kansas.

Yes, that is true. But according to these allegations, he did ultimately end up at Kansas after becoming connected with agents who transferred cash to "represent" him and help him find a college. There appears to be NCAA violations involved. And Kansas knew he was associated with these people (see article) and provided them with free tickets. I am not suggesting Bill Self or anyone at Kansas was involved, but connect the dots.

and this is surprising? We knew this about a lot of other recruits - OJ Mayo, John Wall, Anthony Davis, lots of those guys at UConn, etc..
the NCAA has always looked the other way as they know it would be a self-destructive effort to uncover it

I am not at all suggesting there is not NCAA violations here. I am just saying that all allegations in this article are from a year after he arrived.
