    DeAndre Kane in the news...
he helped his team win with his scoring & rebounding but he also found a unique way to stop the fast break - by gouging out the opponent's eyes...
He was ejected with a flagrant foul and the BYU player was taken to the local hospital

Watching the game live it didn't look this bad.  Looking at this photo, the flagrant 2 call makes a lot more sense.  Mika was rushed to a local Prov...

That looks awful. He should be banned from NCAA activities for life and sent to prison if that was really as bad as that picture looks.

The video doesn't look any better...in fact, it almost looks like it's premeditated
DeAndre Kane was ejected for (seemingly intentionally) jamming his fingers into the eyes of Eric Mika. The replay shows that Kane made no attempt to aim anyw...

That video does look bad. There's no defending those actions.

Notre Dame's best player and top scorer (19 ppg) may be available....
Jerian Grant - son of ex-NBAer Harvey Grant

He was dismissed from the team and dismissed from school over the weekend...
Notre Dame will be without leading scorer Jerian Grant for the rest of the season because of an "academic matter," the guard wrote in a note Sunday night on the team's website.

            More player transfer news...

Georgetown's Greg Whittington will transfer to Rutgers
Stanford's Aaron Bright is transferring - the senior hurt his shoulder and wants to redshirt, but Stanford has committed all their available scholarships and so he has to go elsewhere. (ISU fans will recall him & his 29 pts vs. the Redbirds in 2012)
Rhode Island's Mike Powell is transferring - he is from the same Chicago high school as Wisconsin's George Marshall who is also transferring - LINK
Jordan Dickerson - an SMU transfer who is now at Penn State received unexpected good news - he's been cleared to play immediately- LINK

Very unlikely that Grant is a good transfer option-he has played all this semester for the Irish and if he transfers will have to sit for a year(until 2nd semester next season). That will only leave Grant one semester of playing time at a new school(he'll be a 5th year senior next year).

More than likely Grant will go pro OR return to ND(if he can get back in). That way he can play a full year next season if he returns to college....of course he could play somewhere other than Division I to get around the eligibility issues (I guess-though JC isn't an option for a 5th senior)

A more interesting player to watch at ND is soph Cam Biedsteid 6'7 former Parade AA from St Louis Cardinal Ritter HS

Biedsteid is sitting out this season as a 'redshirt'. This move has the Irish fans totally confused.....why redshirt one of your best players-especially when the team needs him!

Now that Grant is gone, there are calls for Coach Brey to 'take off' Cam's redshirt for the 2nd semester. Brey has announced that won't happen.

Why this is worth watching is the following bit of speculation. Cam is not even practicing with the squad at present. That is strange. Redshirts are allowed to continue to practice with the team.

What is not being said (most likely) is that Biedsteid is struggling academically, and was given this semester off(mysteriously at the last minute) in order to try to get his grades in order to stay in school.

A very high profile soph who just may become available......

I have wondered how interested Bradley would be in transfers that have to sit out a year. It would seem Bradley might be more interested in someone that could help them next year. It will be year 4 of Ford's 5 year contract.

Would he be a mid-year transfer and thus eligible at semester break next year?
