  • Do not communicate with recruits via social media

I was asked to remove the thread about tweeting.

I received a couple emails from an Associate Athletic Director asking that we post the following-
Fans are under the same NCAA regulations as coaches and staff, including social media restrictions. It is a potential NCAA violation for anyone to directly communicate with a potential recruit. Please do not do it!

These are applicable links that I was provided with-

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

All fans are under these regulations?

I was under the impression it was only boosters and such.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Technically, it applies to "boosters", but that term is somewhat vague, and could possibly be applied to a large segment of the fans on this board. Bradley would prefer that nobody connected to the school in any way contact recruits on social media.
The third link above includes some definition of a booster-

A booster is an individual that:

      -Promotes the university athletics program.
-Makes a financial contribution to the university athletics or its booster .
-Assists in the recruitment of prospects for the university.
-Provides benefits (e.g., jobs, occasional meals) to enrolled student-athletes.
-Has purchased season tickets for any university athletics program.

And, once a booster.....Always a booster. It is important to remember that once an individual has been identified as a booster, he or she retains that status forever.

I agree. Let the coaches do what they are paid for. Also, if you see any other schools fans doing this then make a copy and send it directly to the NCAA. If we are not able to do it then the big schools should not be able to get away with it either

Why would you wanna help the NCAA nickle and dime the schools anymore than then already do? Your check must be signed by the NCAA or you got stock in it??? lol I wont tweet but I am not ratting anyone out either.

Because I hate to see them punish schools like Bradley but then let bigger schools off the hook. I don tbelive in letting them get away with it when there is something I can do. By the way, how much does the NCAA pay anyway?..

Being a Bradley fan is a great hobby. Tweeting incoming recruits is creepy and smacks of an exaggerated self-importance.

You guys who are posting on basketball message boards daily and anonymously think that we who tweet all the time need to get lives?

please send copies of tweets to the NCAA...you have about 30 billion to choose from..

Not tweeting in general. I have no problem with that. Tweeting kids and trying to get them to come to your school.....creepy.

                            Creepy? Really lol

Is it ok for me to walk by the kid w/ a BU hat on? IMO that is the same thing.

I didn't, wouldn't, couldn't offer this Kid anything except my fan hood. Which every player, coach, etc gets from me. Some I like more than others. So I don't see the problem but I will fall in line

DD knows its his choice! I imagine its a pretty good feeling to log into Twitter or Facebook and see FR from fans who wanna watch you play, tweets from fans who want you! But we should definitely take that away from them! Its easy and fun being a high school athlete so fun being a college recruit! Today more than ever we need to focus on the positive and fun in life! Obviously Hey DD Ill give you a mill to come to BU is a violation..........and Hey DD we support BU just as much as NM and would love for you to be BRAVE w/ your decision IMO should not be a problem lol

Just IMO but Me and my opinion are not for everyone, IF you wanna sit the whole game ..... barely saying a word ........think there is more to life than College Hoops lol j/k I love my wife and kids the most! Does the loud fan at the game bother you? Then caution, here I am ......... GO BU!

Rutgers was forced to report a VIOLATION as one of their boosters tweeted directly to a recruit
