He is gonna bounce back fine. Kids a stud! Still has my vote for starting PG! But this doesn't help!

the teleconference this week noted that Ka'Darryl Bell is still recovering from his shoulder surgery and things are going very slowly...
he won't even be cleared for any contact until September or October...

".. it doesn’t look like he’ll be cleared to start contact stuff until September or October."

That would mean KB would be well behind all the other players who have been working out, conditioning, and going thru drills & "contact stuff" all summer long and into the fall...
I would be surprised if he starts any of the early games and may not even play much in the first half of the season

At this time, they have given no consideration to red-shirting him.

I hope he is able to play next year. Shaw is sitting out as a transfer and redshirting Bell would reduce the available scholarship players to 11. There are usually some injuries that will sideline a player or two for some time during the season.

Ka'Darryl Bell reportedly hurt his shoulder some time during the season but then hurt it again pretty severely in the March 26 game.
I would sure love to have him back to start the season but I also want him to take whatever time it requires to get and remain completely healthy.

In cases where the non-shooting shoulder is the one injured and operated, then the recovery time to being able to play & contribute has been said to be around 6 months - but lots of players took a bit longer - most notably Creighton's Nate Funk.
In 2005-06 he hurt his shoulder early in the season & tried playing but couldn't...his surgery was January 5, 2006 and the predicted timetable was the usual 6 months.
In an interview the next fall he said he was cleared after the 6 months but still took a couple MORE months to get into playing shape...
"I was cleared to do everything 100 percent back in July. I've had a couple of months to get the rust off and get back into playing shape..."

He was fully recovered by a year and had a great senior season but was never quite the same shooter he had been previously....
After averaging 46% on 3-pointers in his sophomore & junior seasons - he shot 35% after the injury.

Bell tore the labrum in his shooting shoulder (right shoulder) - and that injury generally takes just a little bit longer before the player can be back at 100%, simply because 6-8 months of not even lifting your shooting arm above horizontal results in a tremendous amount of muscle weakening and loss of coordination.

Creighton's Grant Gibbs is an example of how a torn Labrum repair might affect a player if it is the shooting/primary ballhandling shoulder..
Gibbs tore his labrum on November 10, 2008. (While at Gonzaga)
He underwent surgery and they predicted publicly he should be ready to play in 6 months.
But he wasn't ready in 6 months - it took far longer. Even a full year later, in fall of 2009, an article about him noted how he hadn't been able to lift wights and was not strong at all and was still recovering...
In that next season he was pretty ineffective, shot just 31% from the arc and just 47% on FT's.
He did become a very effective player later - averaging 38% from 3-pt and 72% on FT's the rest of his career.
