  • NCAA Violations uncovered at Iowa State

over 1400 illegal phone calls - most of which efforts were made to hide and obscure their existence and keep them from being documented...
... plus basketball assistants illegally recruiting at banned events and out of season...and more...79 different major violations confirmed by NCAA
(three of which are Fred Hoiberg-committed violations)
....and IOWA STATE knew about this at least as far back as 2011 and has been dragging their feet "self-investigating"....while still playing those players they landed via this illegal recruiting!! They've kept everything secret and even lied about it for the past two years - and that's making a few in the press angry!!!

Of even more interest is that one of the BASKETBALL ASSISTANTS named as a major violator is ex-Illinois State assistant and
former Iowa State Basketball Assistant Daniyal Robinson.. - whose big claim to fame is supposedly benig the lead recruiter who landed Osiris Eldridge at Illinois State - hmmm...so now it is revealed he's a big time cheater.... hmmm...
and another of the coaches named BY Iowa State themselves as having violated recruiting rules is ex-head basketball coach GREG MCDERMOTT ..

Current head coach Fred Hoiberg is claiming complete innocence - but I cannot fathom he didn't know of some of this going on right under his noses...the cell phones are issued by the Athletic Department and thousands of illegal phone calls couldn't have gone unnoticed - not in this day and age, post-Kelvin Sampson!!

Here's more - but I will bet NCAA goes very soft - unlike what they'd do if this stuff happened at a mid-major...

I can't get the article, but Robinson left ISU before the coaching change. Does the article specify if this continued under the new staff?

apparently so - and lots of coaches have been cited - but now the people at Iowa State are clamming up and not talking to the press......

try this link - this article is a little more detailed

I'll bet this stuff goes on a whole lot more but Iowa State was forced into investigating and found this massive degree of violations - likely where
investigations are NOT going on - it's still happening -
with all the $$ NCAA has, and with all the failures they've had lately - why don't they send at least an much staff to check out these horrific degree
of violations as they did to swarm BU's campus back in 2005 just to find a little "inadvertent and unintentional overpay" at a mid-major??
..oh - I know why ...hypocrisy......

"Over a three-year period, athletics department staff members placed more than 1,400 impermissible recruiting calls
to nearly 400 prospects. Additionally, a former student men??™s basketball coach sent 160 impermissible text messages
to prospects and also placed impermissible recruiting telephone calls."

this is 3 times what Kelvin Sampson committed - so Iowa State did get off easy..
