  • IU Hoosiers - players leaving

First - the one that's pretty much confirmed - Victor Oladipo is leaving for the NBA draft...

Then speculative - that possibly Cody Zeller would leave for the draft - except he was a lottery pick a couple wks ago - then his performance in IU's Sweet 16 game dropped his stock supposedly a bunch - so now he might stay at IU.

Then there are threads on the IU Premium board about two or three other possible transfers...

One is Remy Abell -- possibly to get more playing time...lots of schools would welcome him but we kinda knew all along that Crean wanted him as a stop-gap 'til he landed a few more guys..

The others: Hanner Perea & possibly Peter Jurkin - both highly touted but getting very small playing time. - but NOTHING official - just talk that they might not get the PT there...although both have strong ties because of the Indiana AAU program..

Article from Indianapolis Star about IU being "oversigned" by 3-

I'd expect Crean to find a way to get rid of Maurice Creek, who has never been effective since his injuries.

Picked Indiana in one of my pools to win it all, big mistake as Crean never goes as far as predicted in the tour, bad place for a player to go if he wants to win a Nat"l championship.

We will never know, but I think he would have been a big plus for the Braves if he would have come on board. Might have missed it, but don't ever remember anyone on this board saying he would have been a stud. Many comments though about how he would have helped the Braves.

can you link to that prediction that someone said he'd be a stud at Indiana - because I never saw that.
only that people said he was capable of playing at the BCS level but that he'd have had a far greater chance to excel had he gone mid-major like at BU

In fact - here may be the comment you have MIS-interpreted....
it comes form one of our fans saying Remy may have been a stud had he stayed at Bradley NOT that he'd be a stud at IU

BTW - with FOUR starters leaving - three of whom will be drafted by NBA teams - is there any doubt that Tom Crean will have his work cut out for him..
He still has some quality players but the dropoff will be noticable.

I remember someone saying he would be a stud. Can't find the thread it might have been deleted.

I recall it was stated he was a stud player in high school, and would have been an immediate impact player at the Valley level. I still believe he would have been. I do not recall those predictions being applied to him at Indiana.

FTR, this past year, he appeared in all 36 games for Indiana, a team that spent much of the season ranked #1 in the country, he was often the first player off the bench, played more minutes than all but 6 other IU players (3 of whom will be in the NBA next year), lead the team in 3-point percentage, and has been described by his coach as a valuable part of the team, and possibly their best defender. Other than scoring (which was not his role on the team), I'd say those are some very impressive accomplishments. I am not sure that many All-MVC players could accomplish as much if they were placed on a similar top ranked team.

And now IU is in on Jared Sina which many IU fans think means Remy is unhappy and is leaving so they will need a back up pg.

Just announced- Indiana junior Maurice Creek will not return to Indiana next year. Could this open a scholarship for the return of Remy Abell? There are reports that Indiana Coach Tom Crean is trying to coax Remy back.
